Jessica Simpson's premptive strike (before her album debuts)

Those Simpson girls sure have vocal troubles. Looks like the album isn't taking off in the direction Sony hoped after she covered "Holiday", I mean, released the single "A Public Affair". Me thinks she knows the album isn't going to have a good debut! When Dylan hits number one, I guess all the whiny fans of "Real music will be happy!

Jessica Simpson Told to Rest Her Voice

Aug 29, 9:41 PM (ET)

NEW YORK (AP) - Talk about bad timing. At the start of a media blitz to support her new album, "A Public Affair," Jessica Simpson is on vocal rest.

"It is true that she has indeed lost her voice," Simpson's publicist, Rob Shuter, told The Associated Press on Tuesday. "She's been ordered to rest. ... She can talk, she can croak out a few sentences. She sounds a little off, but, you know, she can't sing."

Simpson, 26, fell ill Friday and has "a strain, a bruise on her vocal cord," Shuter told the AP.

The singer canceled an appearance on CBS'"Late Show With David Letterman" this week but dropped by MTV's "Total Request Live" on Tuesday to promote the album. Simpson, speaking in a hoarse voice, introduced music videos. She also signed CDs for fans.

Simpson hopes her condition improves by Friday, when she is scheduled to perform on NBC's "Today" show, Shuter said.

"She's trying," he said. "Everybody is hoping and keeping their fingers crossed."

• Did you first think Prince was gay? •

Wendy: He’s a girl, for sure, but he’s not gay. He looked at me like a gay woman would look at another woman. Lisa: Totally. He’s like a fancy lesbian.

I don't. The first single has peaked at number 14. Not bad but it took a top ten single for her last album to become a hit (as well as a rerelease). There is no telling what will happen but I think if a superstar like Christina couldn't make it past 200+ units, with a hit single and a lot of publicity, good luck, Jessica. We'll see what we see....

Well Jessica really has never been a strong seller overall, especially in the Britney,Christina, jessica class, she was always coming in third behind those ladies, from what i remember the first album may have sold a million overall, the second didnt, maybe gold, the remix album did nothing, and in this skin was not doing well until she covered Take My breath away and reissued the CD which of course took it over a million or so, plus the newlywed fame/craze. So once again if she can get to gold, in these times, major accomplishment

"We went where our music was appreciated, and that was everywhere but the USA, we knew we had fans, but there is only so much of the world you can play at once" Magne F
