From what I heard they got the name from an amine character that one of the girls created and drew (I think it was Dawn). Diddy liked how it sounded. That is correct about how they got their name. I don't like it though, for some reason, I think of that rapper Big Daddy Kane when I hear the name. RIP, mom. I will forever miss and love you.

This has just confirmed to me that the current generation of popular music buyers have not a clue what "real" music is all about. I am sorry, but that single is horrendous. Usually, the first single represents the best of the CD, if that is what they chose to introduce themselves to the world, the rest cannot be much better.
I was walking on campus last week and heard some of my students listening to the single in a car, and I thought to myself, WTF! I couldn't believe that someone had actually bought that CD. I actually called my sister and told her that we must officially be out of the target demo (at 31) because both of us thought Danity Kane would sit on shelves. How wrong we were. Again, a sad commentary on the current state of popular music. Most of the music on that chart is garbage. perfection is a fallacy of the imagination...

However, you must keep in mind of the number of teen boys and/or grown men ages 18-25 could also buy THIS album out of pure lust (remember Britney Spear's debut album back in 1999?) One again, sex sells first, the music sells second. 2. As a concept, I like The Pussycat Dolls way better than Danity Kane. But it'll take a lot more better material in order for both groups to be on the same level that En Vogue & TLC used to be.

i gotta agree tho. i mean wtf? watching them during making the band.... the way puffy and co handle things it always made them look unprepared and like amateurs.whenever they thought they had a good day puffy or one of his crew would come and ruin it. so i always thought they were never gonna make it!

A catchy original name for a girl group. Nothing More. It's "catchy"??? Sounds like a cross between Vanity 6 & Erika Kane - makes no fucking sense to me. Everytime I hear the name I think of that damn Erika Kane song by Aaliyah... "yo yo she's Erika, Erika, Erikaaaaa... Erika Kane!"

I watched "Making the Band" on MTV while the band Danity Kane was being primped for success. In one of the episodes, the girls went to a radio convention where they had to introduce themselves to the DJs that were there. The looks on the DJs' faces was HILARIOUS when the girls told them what the band's name was. Their expressions went from this: to this: . You could tell that they were thinking, "Danity Kane?? What the fuck kind of name for a band is that??" It is a whack name. [Edited 9/1/06 9:10am] RIP, mom. I will forever miss and love you.
