fishbone angelo moone

just for laughs or it may interest some. i went to first avenue saturday night. hung out with angelo moone of fishbone. very nice crazy beyond crazy really but very interesting guy. funny how we so much want the life that some of the stars have. He got his groove on the dance floor for the first time in a long time. he said that it felt good just to be himself. something so simple as dancing on the dance floor like everyone else...

can you imagine what Prince would love to do but can't because he his who he is???

what do you think that would be???

just makes you think about do you really consider yourself blessed for what you have or do you constantly wish for more?

just makes you think. or i hope i did. let me know.

what does everyone think of fishbone anyway?

They're more punk than funk, so it took me some effort to get into F'Bone. Their
records are not a good indication of the energy of their shows. Safe to say, now I'm a
fan. I heartily recommend their latest Live At the TEMBLE BAR

Anxiety

I liked "Truth and Soul" but when they started getting into that homophobic shit, I had to tune them out. When they wouldn't let it go and had to make some "fag" comment on every album, I had to get rid of their shit altogether...except for my copy of "Truth and Soul".

They'll make for a fun VH-1 "Behind the Music" someday.

Does the live album capture their energy well?

Thanks for the heads up. I didn't know they had a new one out; and you're right - the studio stuff doesn't do the live material justice. Interesting you labled them a punk band. I've always thought they defied categorization, one of the things I like about them.

Man they've been doing it for YEARS too - at least since the early to mid 80's. Back when i was at college, they'd do a free spring bfling show with the Chilli Peppers every year at Temple University. In concert, they'll segue from metal to punk to ska to reggae, soul, funk and psychadelia - truly fuckin' with your head as they shift all of those gears.

I met Angelo after one show, and yes, he is very cool, intense and interesting, not to mention stoned all the time. We talked briefly about the protest he led in a shoppijng mall where a kid bought a t-shirt that said "fuck racism", then wasn't allowed to wear it in the very mall where he bought it.

Anxiety, what "homophobic shit"? I don't recall anything like that. Maybe you're taking it out of context...? I missed that.
