Favorite Outros

(Inspired by calldapplwondery83's "Intros" post)

My current favorite comes from Joey DeFrancesco's...

...Organic Vibes

At the end of marvelously played instrumental version of I Thought About You (a lush Johnny Mercer/Jimmy Van Heusen ballad), the music fades down and you think the next cut is on the way.

After about 2 seconds you hear this voice that could only come from a seasoned Jazz veteran saying, "If you don't like that, you don't like ice cream. Ha,ha,ha,ha,ha."

The second one that immediately comes to mind is Otis Redding whistling away the ending to The Dock of the Bay.

Writing about Otis Redding reminded me of another of his songs...

...Tramp w/Carla Thomas, from the same album that had a pretty cool ending.

CT: You're a tramp, Otis.
OR: No I'm not.
CT: I don't care what you say, you're still a tramp.
OR: What's wrong with that?
CT: Look here. You ain't even got no money.
OR: I got everything.
CT: You can't buy me all those minks and sables and all that stuff I want.
OR: I can buy you minks, rats, frogs, squirrels, rabbits, ...anything you want woman.
CT: Look, you can go out in the Georgia woods and find them baby.
OR: Oh, you goofy.
CT: You're still a tramp.
OR: That's all right.
CT: You a tramp, Otis. You just a tramp.
OR: That's all right.
CT: You wear overalls. You need a haircut baby. Cut off some of that hair off your head. You think you a lover, huh?

hmmm Then there's that Beatles tune with the super long piano ending. cool

On the Zeppelin tip, the bangin' left to right guitars on What Is And What Should Never Be.

And the fading..."I want you." from The Plant.

My favorite is on Maxwell's Urban Hang Suite, the 10 minute silence after "The Suite Theme" and then the music resumes and then fades. For a long time it would trip me out, expecially on dates because usually I'd be sitting in the ride trying to talk my way into sme panties and then the song would ease back on and that would trip the chicks out. Basically settin' the mood for me! Thanks Maxy! thumbs up!

If that's the case, try Jimi's 1983...(A Merman I Should Turn To Be).

All the returning flying saucer and out-of-this-world soundscaping should definitely take your date over the edge. cool

"Honey Chile" is insane strictly because of the drum fills are so over the top that homeboy sounded like somebody had a gun stuck up to his head!
