Justin Timberlake's newest: A few quick thoughts

A decent dance album to be sure. However, it seems very unauthentic. Justin seems like he is posing too hard in the sexed up bad boy pimp role. Justified had it's poserish moments, but they seemed tongue and cheek. He is simply trying way to hard to be bad on this. He should have stuck to the boy next door who can groove instead of going for the sexpanther type of vibe.

The grooves are nice, albeit borrowed, but they all suffer from being TOO perfect. This stuff should seem spontaneous--the grooves on this album seem perfectly combed over--it mutes the energy.

Bottom Line: It's a decent pop/dance album, but Justin's whitebreadness doesn't lend itself well to dressing up in Prince's old clothes. His last album was better. It was Justin's Off the Wall--too bad FutureSex/Love Song isn't his Thriller.

PS. Can Snoop Dogg be any less gangsta these days?

You are on crack. So far this is the album of the year. 10 years ago would you say Justin would be making music like this? I didn't. I hate to say it but he has created 2 of my favorite albums of the 2000's

I agree with you Skywalker 100%

Also the album doesn't flow...some songs salvage it. But I guess I won't be spinning it alot!

FS/LS probably can't top Justified in my book but he's doing some fresh stuff this time around but wasn't there supposed to be a duet with Nelly Furtado?

Album of the Year? This well produced sack of shit? lol
Van Hunt dropped the album of the year. With all its slick production, this is still pop fluff with no soul. He's got a couple of decent songs but it lacks substance. All that pretty boy pretty girl, I'm hot she's hot bullshit. hmph!

Let me tell you, Justin Timberlake just appeared hear in Philly at the same club Prince was at " The Electric Factory" and that boy is great, he is tearing up the East coast. I'm not sure even Prince could evoke a crowd like this anymore.

My God, if Justin Timberlake is your album of the year then YOU are the one that needs to lay off the crack!

Get a Van Hunt CD, then you'll realise how piss poor Justin's album is.

I constantly find Justified being sold for £2.99 in my local HMV. It has also become a charity shop favourite.

What's up with the newbies these days? They're on here 5 minutes and want to put people on blast.

In any event, Van Hunt's album is, for my twocents the best album of the year.

But Wahday is right to an extent. You have to give begrudging credit to JT for being a much better solo act than anyone ever anticipated. I would bet his second album is pretty good.

Some things are actually really good, and some fall flat. IMO. I like the title track, the groove of Sexy Ladies and Love Stoned.

Justin also said something along the lines of...
"Anything me and Timbaland do is bound to be funky"
Well, I got news for you Justin. It ain't. Get lost.

Well, the drums on Damn Girl are great for example. James Brown-ish live beat, with a great sound. Nice organ there, too. And I don't care what anyone else says, he definitely wants to do Prince on the vocals and it ain't half bad.
