damosuzuki said: The new Scott Walker vaguely disappointed me at first because it seemed a little too similar to Tilt, his last album, but subsequent listens have shown that it's a harder, more extreme record, and that's really saying something. This has to count as one of the most demented records ever to be marketed as pop music.

That is the same Scott Walker, but he's sounding nothing like his old self these days - his last few records have been very caustic, unmelodic art-rock. Extremely odd, but I find it highly entertaining. Glad you're digging the Donald Fagen disc.
Ah, I hit the jackpot last weekend - I found all three of Fagen's solo albums in a 2nd hand shop at a ridiculously low price. I have been playing the Nightfly non-stop - fantastic record, I can't believe I let so much time pass without owning it. I'm not too crazy about Kamakiriad so far (except for Snowbound), but it might grow on me yet. By the way, I just got back from seeing the Zombies, and I'm happy to report that they were absolutely superb. Colin Blunstone still sings like a choirboy - his voice has not aged a day as far as I could tell. I'll try to give you a report on Friday. Mr. Todd Rundgren was in attendance tonight as well. I thought I saw him sitting beside a local dj, and that was confirmed when they announced his presence at the end of the show. [Edited 8/30/06 20:41pm]

Scott Walker: I'll have to sample some of the material to hear what he sounds like now. The Zombies: Who's playing keys for them? Rod Argent's playing was so important to their original sound Donald Fagen: Give Kamakiriad some time. I had the same initial reaction when I copped it years ago. You will come to love the tunes. Tomorrow's Girls and especially On The Dunes are classics. Bring on the Todd Rundgren lowdown. tA Tribal Disorder http://www.soundclick.com...dID=182431 "Ya see, we're not interested in what you know...but what you are willing to learn. C'mon y'all."

Bring on the Todd Rundgren lowdown. Hopefully I'll put something together tonight. Cliffs Notes version: excellent show! Extremely aggressive playing with a stripped down line-up - two guitars, bass, drums and no keyboards. Lots of long and very loud guitar solos. [Edited 9/1/06 20:11pm]

Thanks guys. I didn't know that Van Hunt had a knew album out. I have to pick it up. I enjoyed his last one. It was the last new album I bought prior to 3121.
I've been disappointed by the Peppers last couple of albums, but I guess I will give the latest one a listen. I'm looking forward to the new AudioSlave album. I would also love to hear something new from Rahsaan Patterson. Other than that, just listening to a lot of House music. perfection is a fallacy of the imagination...

BOB DYLAN - "MODERN TIMES"
(another classic!) THE ROOTS - "THE GAME THEORY" - (another classic) M. WARD - "POST-WAR" EASY STAR ALL-STARS - "RADIODREAD" ("OK COMPUTER" covered dub/reggae style - stunningly good!) ALICE SMITH - "FOR LOVERS, DREAMERS & ME" (Great, great new artist) JUSTIN TIMBERLAKE - "Love Stoned/ I Think That She Knows" (downloaded this from a friend. I will NEVER buy this album, but I can't stop listening to this song) AUDIOSLAVE - "REVELATIONS" (Seriously, their best yet. I pray they don't break up.)

I just don't know... not much grabs me like music in the past has. Maybe I just don't need music like I use to, perhaps I am growing out of "needing a new sound". I love music... and have it on before any other media sound. Maybe I am loving the sounds of life and nature... or maybe I just have not heard the right upcoming sound to rock my world.

My latest purchase: Charlotte Gainbourgs '5:55'.
No rock of anything that's related with it. Just nice songs, sung/whispered with beautiful music. It reminds me of An Pierlé, which might be an obscure reference for everyone outside Belgium. http://www.myspace.com/ch...gainsbourg

Chris Brown's self title album. True his album isnt groundbreaking but it is nice to hear some new R&B songs.
Nelly and Janet's new song Call On Me Prince 3121 of course Ray J's song One wish Teena Marie's Sapphire well that is about it so far. I be hearing about Van Hunt and good things about his album and when I have the time I should check him out. Hey I maybe an old skool head, but I am still open minded of hearing good and decent new skool music which sadly I can able to count on my ten fingers. [Edited 9/2/06 10:32am]
