This is for Aaron and Davideye. Aaron, I have never seen Madonna in concert and I have not watched a Madonna video or concert on tv in at least 5 years, but I have heard that she is attempting to play the guitar, hence my statement about not being a musician. Davideye, I know you love her based on your comments here, but we are all entitled to our opinion and IMO, that is what I think of her. I didn't mean to offend anyone here, but I do not like her, her music or her crappy movies.

No offense taken:)

"I do not like her,her music or her crappy movies"

So,I guess that means you WON'T be standing in line to see "Swept Away"? wink

Davideye, I have only ever seen one Madonna movie (evita) and it will be my first and last. I didn't hate the movie, but I do not like her at all. I was a bit happy to hear that her new movie is total crap because it falls in line with the rest of them. It's not even released and is getting terrible reviews. She may be a good entertainer (like MJ), but there is nothing about her music, her movies or herself that I find the least bit interesting. She needs to get a few more dance moves too. She does the same lame dance in all her videos.

this is so easy for Me: Prince:.Hit&Miss with Him since 88.Enjoyed the First Decade&think the Guy is One of the Greatest Talents Ever:but He is a Trip&Aside from Music I can't fully relate to Him&No Matter what it Be He is Promoting He is still the Same Prince.Dr.Dre: Enjoyed some of His Work but He crys so Damn Much&is a Walking Puppet&Follows whatever is Cool to do.Quincy Jones: Enjoy His Work&He is as Great as anyone in the History of Music IMHO but He Name Drops&is too Full of Hollywood at times for my taste.Mariah Carey:I Respect her Talent but off the stage She wouldn't seem like the kind of Person you could deal with.Berry Gordy: Great Music Mind but Personally He wasn't cool on the Business tip.Diana Ross: Enjoy Her as a Artist Early in Her Career until the Mid 80's but She Refuses to Get off the SuperStar Mind Set.Teddy Riley:Respect His Music Talent but He leaves alot of Angry Folks Off Stage that have worked with Him.Larry Graham: Great Musical Talent but He acts Like He is the Only JW in Showbusiness??there are many JW's in the Business that don't push there Cause on others. there are quite a few people i'd say this about.IMHO I'd say this about 95% of the People in the Biz.

Awww c'mon Maxxx, you gotta bust loose on MJ The Man too... wink
I don't Like His Soft Persona that He plays on Tv because Dude is No Joke on His Money. He plays all Peter Pan on TV but the Cat is like "Dirty Harry" when it comes to His Dollars&Sense. He is a Stone Cold Trip off the stage.but You Know I've never Heard folks say a Bad thing about How he treats His Fans&Relates to them.so the Jury is still out on Him.

Yeah I don't buy the insipid, Peter Pan softie thing either. As you know I'm more suspicious of him and his real motives all the way round though.

I could name plenty of artist's who as a person don't enamour me, but the music must be taken as objectively as possible IMO.
like I said you can say that about 95% of the folks in the Bsuiness.all Suspect on some levels IMHO.

You're absolutely right Supernova. Geez, Prince barely gets noticed for his amazing guitar playing. Next thing you know, Madonna will be bumping him off all these lists just because she can play the first few cords of stairway to heaven. As I've said many times before, Madonna is an entertainer, not a musican and not even close to being an actress.

can't Believe I'm doing this but here goes Defending Madonna: She can Play Instruments&Her Voice is a Instrument that has Moved many People Period.I liked Her Earlier Stuff far more Better&Haven't really dug a Whole Album of Her's in Many Ages.but the fact is Madonna has Her Own Sound&Vibe.Everybody in ShowBusiness is a Entertainer. Some just do it Better than others.but it's all the same thing.when you pay your ticket to see Someone they are En*** You.Madonna showed the Funk Outfit Band Kleer how to Program a Drum machine. She use to Play with the Band Breakfast Club.I'm not that Big on her overall as a Artist but the Woman does Have Her Own Sound&is Very Much a Artist.Entertaining to Me is like having somebody over to your Crib that you kick it with which doesn't cost you any Loot.I'm not Crazy about Her Strumming a Guitar&It made Me Laugh out loud but She is very much a Artist.if you are in Show Business you are Paid to Entertain People Period. She is Wack as a Actress overall.Barbs She ain't or Cher.but you can't take Away what She has meant as a Artist.nobody in there Right mind will Compare Her Guitar Playing with Prince's.but there Albums&Impact or there Fullness as Entertainers will.I think Prince is a Better Entertainer than Madonna.but I do Respect Madonna because we still talking about Her 20 years Later almost&that My friend speaks Volumes.especially in a New Century way.She is still around&thriving.

Nope.I've listened to Madonna Records Since 83.She has Her Own Idenity on the Material IMHO.you don't have to Give it Up to Her if you don't want to, but the Facts prove She hasn't lasted this Long without doing something Right as a Artist.

Ok and every one of her albums from the 80's to this last one was producer driven. She goes for whatever is popular at the moment. This is what has kept her career going. I'm not saying this wasn't a good move for her, just that she doesn't really have her own "sound".

Okay, to get back on topic, my first vote goes for Bob Dylan. He's got some amazing stuff, but can be an arrogant ass. I also don't agree with his drug use.

Mick Jagger and Rod Stewart for the same reason - their womanizing. It burns me up to see them marry women then leave them at the drop of a hat, esp. if children are involved.

Michael Jackson - well, I don't even need to say anything about him. You all get the gist of it regardless.

And last, but not least, Frank Zappa. But I'm not going to say anything about him because the poor fellow has passed. sad

I really really really have to be in the mood for Zappa in order to put any of his albums on, but I totally respect his visionary attitude, his "fuck-you" attitude, and his, well...just the way he did his own thing. smile

Hmmm, sounds like you're talking about 'Graffiti Bridge' smile

I think Madonna is a good actress, not great, but good.As I've said many times before, she works best when she's a supporting actress.Admittedly, she just can't "carry" a whole movie. The main reason is because people never really accept her in the role she's playing. They see her as simply "Madonna".I guess Prince has this same problem, although in his case it doesn't matter. He has given up on movies.

It's not so much that I dislike him but I just feel so bad for Michael Jackson. I don't believe a word that comes out of his mouth anymore and it hurts to look at him. I used to be a huge fan of his work but I rarely listen to him today. Bummer sad

And Bowie absolutely does not pander to critics. In the 90's he produced some of his most challenging work- Outside and Earthling anyone? And in the 80's...maybe he did cash in a bit but who can blame him. He took music as far out there as possible in the 70's and the only thing he could do to shock and change was to become a normal guy for awhile. Plus, that Berlin-era stuff couldn't have been making him much money. He needed to secure his future. I heard him recently say that he cannot second guess his audience or the critics. Because of that he only writes for himself. And if other people happen to like it, then good for them. He measures success by how well he interprets his ideas onto tape. I think the guy has more cred than anybody. I really don't understand where you're coming from SkinMechanic.

Sly Stone: the man let drugs ruin his life and career. The drugs became too damn important. Genius musician that could still be around today.

Prince: love - hate relationship. Drop the Witness crap, quit tripping and play some of that good ol' funk we know you have in your system. NO MORE POP!!!
