Brandy - "Have you ever"

Okay, i know it`s a Diane Warren song, but this Brandy single is actually very good music

Love Brandy.

Prefer "Almost Doesn't Count." And "Afrodisiac" beats anything in her catalogue hands down, except "Baby" and "I Wanna Be Down."

I so wish she could make a comeback. This American Idol rip off hosting gig is sad. I can't believe "Afrodisiac" bombed...I thought there were 3 or 4 number 1 R&B singles on there...

no no no! Not quite. It's awfully close, but I prefer Never Say Never. They're both excellent, though. The debut is also great (for the most part).

It's funny because I bought her greatest hits album when it came out and I knew the songs and all but damn, listened to it all the way through and was bored for the most part. Her stuff from "Full Moon" was OK, I guess, But I have "Afrodisiac" and that was a hot album....Hopefully she has another one in her before her relavancy goes the way of Paula Abdual.

Full Moon had two good singles, but that's easily her weakest album.

Given the success of Loose, maybe she should just re-release Afrodisiac? smile

I used to really like this song when it was first released (and the entire Never Say Never project, that was her zenith).

Afrodisiac was a very good, flowing record, but so was her debut. Full Moon was meandering and bloated.

NSN was -- and still remains -- her go-to album, IMHO.

I love Never Say Never. Afrodisiac was alright but a little too much about the broken relationship. I also think her voice sounded better on NSN. I remember Rodney making a big deal about how great Brandy’s voice was going to sound and how she was using it differently and I didn’t think I was going to hear it but I did. Sounds like some of that were lost on Afrodisiac. Her first album was pretty tight too.

Well, OK, maybe that's why I like Afrodisiac.

I never liked that song. Too bland for my taste.

Brandy was never that good a singer in my opinion. She's along the lines of Ashanti.

eek disbelief Are you serious? Brandy's no Aretha, but she's certainly no Ashanti. For starters, her phrasing is phenomenal. That's talent you can't teach.

This song soooo brings back to the 11th grade. I think that it's the reason that I don't really care for it.

It's very similar to "For You I Will" by Monica, another Diane Warren tune.

I don't understand all the love for Never Say Never. "The Boy Is Mine" while a pop classic is very generic. The only other great songs on there are "Angel in Disguise" "Almost Doesn't Count" and "Happy" IMHO.

I actually think "Full Moon" had some great, almost edgy tracks especially "All in Me"--the most overlooked gem in Brandy's catalogue. And the title track is one of her top 5. And the ballad "He Is" fucking rules. Oh, and "Don't Want Anybody to know"...that album is bangin! She really was maturing with her last two releases...damn shame they both flopped.

See, I'd add at least "Learn the Hard Way," "U Don't Know Me" (my jam), and "One Voice." From a tape POV, Side 1 is almost flawless!

Heh, "All in Me" is one of the album's weakest tracks IMO. As far as end-of-the-album-covers go, give me "(Everything I Do) I Do It for You" over "Die Without You" any day. I like Full Moon enough, but it doesn't have as many strong songs as her debut or the cohesiveness of Never Say Never and Afrodisiac. Maybe I'll give them all another spin...

I'm with you, Afrodisiac was not the best. Never Say never was the best CD she's done so far. Afrodisiac was just too mellow.

Brandy was my girl. I still play her first CD. It was the closest thing to "baby-neo soul". I Wanna Be Down", is something to remember. Then because her producers from her first CD, were not available to work on her second, her sound changed. It changed to this "sugarless bubblegum", sound. This is when I bailed. From there, it all went down hill for me. Now she is signed to her brother's label, in hopes of making a comeback of sorts. Maybe she will, but I will not be there.

"Have You Ever" is one of my favorite Brandy songs. No way does ASHANTI compare to Brandy! Brandy can blow, she don't sing like how she used too because her voice has deepened & there's a lil rasp in her sound now. She's definitely miles above Ashanti though.

love it is a fate resigned
