Free Teena Marie concert in NYC on 8/25 I work on Wall Street, so I definately want to see Friday's show with Teena!
For twelve years, J&R Music and Computer World brought out the stars of the R&B and Jazz galaxy for free concerts in historic City Hall Park in downtown Manhattan. 2006's festival was no exception bringing exciting names in R&B, Jazz, Gospel, Oldies & Latin music. Thursday, August 24 (Show Starts @ 5:00pm) * Corinne Bailey Rae * Freddie Jackson * Joe Friday, August 25 (Show Starts @ 5:00pm) * Algebra * Lyfe Jennings * Teena Marie

Great! This may be my first chance to see Teena since the Budweiser Superfest way back when. Rick died before I got to see the tour with him a few years ago. Been gone for a minute, now I'm back with the jump off

Damn! Teena was on fire last night!!!! She tore it up! Her voice was strong and she did many of her classics.....but she did NOTHING from "Sapphire", which is her current album. She did almost a full concert. She dedicated her set to Aaliyah, whose 5 year death anniversary was yesterday. She did Deja Vu, Sucka for love, I need your lovin', Fire & Desire (biggest audience response), I'm Still in Love, Ooh La La La (with Fugees style mix), Portugese Love, etc. I was hoping to hear more of her ballads, but she kept it funky. Teena STILL has it. She may be 50, but it's like her voice hasn't changed at all. She was hitting some high ass notes, my friend was like: "Shit!" I never heard her hit that note before". Lyfe sang very well, but he bored me a little bit. I was there for Teena! Thank you Teena for a great night!

I must see Teena again somehow. Been gone for a minute, now I'm back with the jump off

Teena Marie did an interview with Wendy Williams before the show. She was very open and real.

Still, I thought she hated "Oh La La La" and I've been listening to that song a lot lately. Cool mixin it with the Fugees verison.
