Well im not surprised, most new releases are able to hit the smaller stores up to a week in advance. I picked up Prince's Ultimate the Wednesday before it was out, and this Wednesday they already had Jessica Simpson, so after i got that the guy told me we are getting Beyonce in on Tuesday night if you are wondering, that would be a Week before its street date. These are not bootlegs either, i dont support that kind of stuff, no xerox copies on Cdrs, these are the actual CD's. And as far as leaking on the internet, the labels are behind all of that.

I'm actually surprised that Justin Timberlake's album doesn't sound bad at all. Timbaland did a great job producing this one...

Beyonce's is decent. I kinda like "Freakem Dress," though.

Either way, I'll still end up picking both of them up.

I like a few of JT's songs, I will admit. But, I won't be getting his CD I don't think. I can just Itune the ones I like.

I will be getting BDay. It's a crazy party record. She's singing with more authority but doesn't seem to be taking herself seriously. It's weird. I wonder what happened in between CDs? Dangerously In Love had Crazy In Love and Speechless but everything else felt canned to me. I did like the duet with Luther but it didn't really fit on the CD.

I like Greenlight but the chorus reminds me of Amerie's 1 Thing. Another Rich Harrison production? Suga Momma is my jam. That should sound good live with that all girl band. Freekum Dress is fiyah! Get Me Bodied is another fun one...But Kitty Kat is the one I've been bumpin' over and over....Now she is blowing on Listen, but is she singing by herself or is that Jennifer Hudson with her?

Irreplaceable is a funny slow cut. "I can find another guy in a minute, in fact, he'll be here in a minute."

U like, Get Me Bodied?
hmmm

Well, I'll say this, the album is difinatley geared toward the younger crowd. I was looking for a few middle of the road/grown n sexy type songs, but it is what it is...

If the fambots on here who consistantly accuse everyone who sings in falsetto of trying to sound like Prince let's the vocals on JT's "Damn girl" slide, I will be sorely disappointed. I think he was trying to sound a little like Prince.

General question. Do you think labels leak these albums on purpose to get people fired up..if so, it doesn't seem to be working. It's only getting everyone all pissed off at worse or complacent at best. No one is that anxious to actually pick up the CDs now (I wouldn't be). And if labels aren't leaking them, why haven't they figured out a system from stopping this. They seem to be waay to fast and loose with promotinal copies for critics and others.

There is no way to promote a CD and stop it from leaking at the same time. People have to have copies in order for it to be promoted. Labels don't leak CDs much because it hurts sales. If its on something like Mtv's "the leak" site, its not a leak, its promotion. Right now the record biz is so screwed up, they'll give away CDs if they think it'll generate more sales.

Do people really need a copy? The best way to treat record promotion would be to treat it like a movie. Send people to a press junket where they can listen to the album (and I know this sounds crazy, but somehow make sure they can't reocrd the disc) and have the artists do interviews after. I don't know....doesn't sound that crazy. Something like "The Leak", I understand. What I don't understand is everyone and their mama already hearing Justin and Beyonce's new Cd (BTW, my mama hates both and can't wiat for the new Janet...not really...she can't stand Janet).
