The person who posted that video from YouTube has posted a lot of good videos from TBS early 90's show Night Tracks.

there is a slight Prince connection here...

I remember seeing Tara Kemp on Video Soul with Donnie Simpson, and she mentioned that in the 80s,she was in a band with Rosie Gaines and that she and Rosie are good friends. They're both based in the Bay Area and since Prince has a long history of "stealing" talent from this area (Sheila E,Levi Seacer Jr.,Rosie, etc) it's possible that Tara could have been a Prince protege too.I wonder if she was approached,or if she ever considered signing to Paisley Park? She's certainly more talented than, say,Carmen Elektra, whom Prince was promoting at the time.

nod I couldn't believe how similar "Piece of My Heart" was to "Hold You Tight." If it ain't broke, don't fix it. lol

No,I don't think he wrote that crap. His only collaboration with Eddie Murphy was that dreadful 1993 duet "WhatzupwitU" disbelief

I remember Tara very well. Her tracks were done during the "Soul II Soul"era.Everybody had a track with that type of groove. It was that period of time between Bobby Brown "Don't Be Cruel"and Mary J.Blige "What's the 411".

I saw Tara in concert at the Target Center when she was on the Club MTV Tour. She came with Tony Toni Tone, Color Me Badd, Naughty By Nature and Bell Biv Devoe. We got there late, Just in time to see her perform "Piece Of My Heart". She was pretty good. Where is she now?
