Portrait did indeed sing "Here We Go Again!" and "Honey Dip" (as well as a great cover of the Bee Gees song "How Deep Is Your Love"); however, it was the group who sang "This Time" with Shanice a few years earlier. They also had a hit with "You're Right About That" in 1990. Playa's album Cheers 2 U is one of the best of the '90s. So underrated... You are so right!! Them and Mista (so many parallels). I have both Playa's Cheers 2 U and Mista's Blackberry Molasses. I never heard whole album. How is it? A happy face, A Thumpin Bass, For A Lovin' Race. PEACE.

yea Peg! cool shit. ______________________________________________

My fondest memory of "Joe Public" is when mtv jams had a unplugged special w/boys 2 men, shanice, joe public and some other act. Joe public served as the house band that evening. They played for everybody. I thought their cd really didn't capture their talent. I was hoping they'd go on to bigger things....oh well....

Yeah, in the video, they all play instuments, but the album is just standard newjack for the most part. I love it as i love newjack, but they dont venture outta that drum-programmed sound, though the guitar parts are quite cool in some of the tracks though. Having said that, Mint conditions debut was a newjack album, but the big hits were the ballads, which were in a way, neo soul. But that debut has some kickin' uptempo's though.
