Elvis Costello's "Everyday I Write The Book"

Man! this used to be my jam back in the day. Nice beat, cool guitar, and funny video. Not a big fan of his music but I remember buying the album for this song and not liking anything else. Anyway you guys remember this song??

This was a very soulful Elvis track. Most of his stuff with The Attractions was very New Wave.Great song!

I like it.

I'm not a major Elvis fan, but I know his first 8 years or so quite well, and I'd definitely rank this as one of his best melodic, pure pop songs, though it might seem a little too slight and cheery compared to the bitterness and cynicism he usually displays.

Love this song but I don't think he acknowledges it like his early new wave hits, sadly. I was at a concert he did with Allen Tousaint...nearly three hours long but only a smattering of Elvis's hits (not this one or "Veronica", though). It's a nice song...I agree with larry. Elvis at his most soulful.

See that's the problem I had with the album I was never into new wave never heard of the guy until this song I thought the rest of the album was as soulful, so for me it was very dissapointting
