I'm sure it is good since the album is incredible. I'm like 17 tracks deep on this and it is still solid! Way too good for radio.

I've yet to see Idlewild but... SPOILER: A friend of mine went to see it and just went on and on about how bad this movie was. I tried to defend the movie (without having seen it yet) but I just had to agree with him when he told me about the scene where he just couldn't take it any more and walked out of the theater. My friend said "Andre starts singing "She lives in my lap" to a corpse. I just had to walk out at that point." That sounds pretty bad to me. There's no way that "She lives in my lap" could ever be sorrowful or appropriately used during a death scene. But; I'll find out for myself today or tomorrow.

Your friend didn't get it.

I am a drum programmer..All he did was take the snare from the beginning and the kickdrum...U can clearly hear the air in the sample..only in the beginning on Morris Brown because it's the only part before the horns and drums come on.

Listen to that beginning and tell me its not New Positions...

Well being from ATL and a fan since 94. I have this to ask:"what if they'd done a Krush Groove or a Purple Rain style film w/the dungeon family? then what? or how about a "tougher than leather", "state property", "house party" or "how high"? Let's face it as far as hip hop movies "idlewild" will go down as being ok....and creative. If they had done a movie about the ATL music scene then y'all would be saying their bitters of "PR"!!!!

Meloh 9 mentioned something about nobody noticing 'Kast doesn't rhyme together anymore. Bruh.....what else is there for them to do. They've been bestfriends since they were 15....they're almost 30 now. They're grown, got kids, BB has a wife.do they really need to be all up under each other at this point? I stopped looking for Andre 3000 to go back to Dre of 94-96 a look time ago. BB 06 ain't BB 96. Hip hop bores 3000 now. BB in my opinion is coasting. He's been in the game long enough....he has nothing to prove he's having fun now. They said @ the 94 source awards "the south got something to say" ....nobody believed them. 12yrs later they got more than some non-believers at the source awards listening.....

No, I said that they lack chemistry as a group now, not that they don't rap together. I also went on to say that I would rather they break up now on a high note, than to do the seperate but together thing that will eventually take its toll on the music. As you stated "what else is it for them to do". I also said that if this all flops it can give them a reason to make a comeback, something to strive for. I love kast, trust me.

I've not seen the movie but that sounds too weird for words , like Christopher Tracy singing " Dig U Better dead " to Mary Sharon at the end of UTCM or something neutral

Well I am hoping this film is noted for the fact that it employs an all black cast and doesnt represent "gangsta style" and other negative things. Though i dont think it will have "youth" support that is the sad thing, and thats the medias fault for their glorification of those stereotypes and not supporting another side. As for its comparison to UTCM, i still dont see the comparison, better? well we are talking about 20 years ago, alot has changed in Moviemaking and things like that so to compare the two is unfair. Its like when people said the new Miami Vice was better, WTF?? I mean, maybe you thought the dialogue was better or effects, but u just cant compare. So i wish Outkast well with this project, in terms of well i mean "NOT" charts and $$ im talking about maybe it will change the mindset of people about Black Film Making, and dont get me wrong, the biggest problem in this genre is caused by Black Film Makers themselves, buying into the stereotypes.

YOUR CORRECT !! from my view the youths especially the males left the theatre looking bewildered, they have no clue what that era was about and with the saturation of rap and hip hop sadly it will go over many heads

I personally loved it and my bf was like it was okay and this was me confused

I loved it too.

I don't get it. There's a lot of b*tching about the shallowness, materialism and negativity of hip hop culture, but when something refeshingly different is offered look what happens...

Sigh~maybe it's me. confuse

- Saw the Movie -

It was a Good Movie, Nicely Done and Creative -
Andre Singing out of Key (and having the nerve to Record it)
but still making it work, is still hard for me to get into..

And Yeah, They sampled alot of Prince's Drums -
At the End of the Movie , when the beat Comes on, I just knew DMSR was about to begin..I guess in a world of Sampling, Creativity is defined different now adays..

Blessings

I don't know, but some critics have mixed feelings about the album. I personally like the album, although, I don't necessarily think a movie will help the sells of the accompanying soundtrack alone. The Idelwild soundtrack just needs better promotion or something!?
