I blame MTV, August 1, 1981 when they started to broadcast, that was probably the decline of "unattractive" performers. Despite excellent vocal abilities, image seems to be everything. If Beyonce didn't look the way she was, she'd probably be that fat girl in the bar that takes kareoke a little to seriously. We are being deprived of amazing singers simply because they don't look that part

the males really aren't that attractive. i have noticed that with the women although most of them probably look average without the make-up and weave.

This thread's premise is interesting. Beauty still is in the eye of the beholder.

This beholder isn't moved by Madonna, Paris Hilton, Alicia Keys or Fergie -- and they all have contracts.

Meanwhile, I'm still waiting for industry love for such beauties as Lalah Hathaway, Meshell Ndegeocello and Oleta Adams -- who all are as fine as can be.
