Right Here.I Got Cameo Stuff back when Wayne Cooper was Singing Lead.Bro Man Could Reach High Notes this side of Philip Bailey at times not quite as deep as Bailey but a Badd-Ass Nevertheless. two Weeks Ago I was Blasting "Hangin Downtown"&"Love you anyway.I wish there Re-masters would drop.back in 83 Larry Blackmon on the Cameo Album from that Year did a Cover of Elvis's "Fallen in Love with you".you'd Crack up at first.Cameo was one of the Few Funk Acts to hang with Rap&Hip-Hop for a while.they knew how to Stay on the Street vibe&Feel.Charlie Singleton is a Badd Ass on guitar&Bro Man does Play Many Instruments including Violin,etc.. Whoodini were my Favorite Rap Group Growing up from 84-86.they had some cool Jams.Sadly back in 95 they tried Hooking up with Jermaine Dupri on "So-So Def Records&that Record was a Baddd Pimp Outtake of Wrong Ideas IMHo.but I enjoy both these Acts.Larry Blackmon last I Heard before they went on Tour was doing A&R for Warner Brothers. Also back between 93-95 the Cameo Catelog was Advertised in Billboard Magazine.

interesting pairing, Cameo & Whodini..

.. 1 group, an extremely tight, funky collection of high energy, bass-slapping, horn drenched, multi-rhythmic musicians & singers who could bring the funk HARD
AS WELL AS
melt the panties off the most frigid of women..

&

2 rappers with barely discernable talent & a dj who had what, 3 real "rap hits"???

indeed, 1 of these group's place in funk history is well secured, & that group is..

NOT SO FAST, Whodini!

My favorite Cameo jams:

Keep it hot
I just want to be
Cameosis
SHAKE YOUR PANTS (a REAL ass-shaker! ooh!.. ohh! ah! ah!)
Just be yourself
Single life
CANDY (the EPITOME of "mid-80s funk)

Word Up was alright, but it got played WAY TOO MUCH when it was popular.. & then on their next album Cameo basically redid that song, calling it "you make me work hard" (or something like that)
I also like the new-wavey "alligator woman"..
kinetic, frantic.. delicious!

in terms of their slow jams, I love the FIRST version of "why have I lost you," the 1 WITHOUT the "spoken intro"
& of course, the slow-almost-mid-tempo "we're going out tonight"..

I saw Cameo back in 1980 when the were at their funky peak-
they were BAAAD!
I saw them again in '85- another VERY SOLID show
I last saw them in like, '98..
they still looked & sounded good..! Larry still wears that codpiece well
("& I say that with a staunch record of heterosexuality," as George Costanza would say!)

I just wonder if Wayne Cooper admits regretting leaving the group..
great career move, Wayne..

& when you feel it
then you'll know it..
CAMEOSIS

dig that sound!
I'll see you tonight..
in ALL MY DREAMS..

Alot of Cameo fans here...They never
did anything for me.
Whodini had some great songs, IMO.
Thanks for the laughs, arguments and overall enjoyment for the last umpteen years. It's time for me to retire from Prince.org and engage in the real world...lol. Above all, I appreciated the talent Prince. You were one of a kind.
