In the early 90s, I usually hung at church and the big library near the old convention center. When you were there, I was in VA. So, no overlap, I'm afraid.

I finally got to Blues Alley, couple of years ago, to catch Jonathan Butler.

Oh.

Waitaminnit... Jonathan Butler? U know, I was very close 2 the new, Nelson Mandela appointed, South African ambassador and his family. Man, they LOVE Jonathan Butler in South Africa! (he is South African) I had his double album with the classic "Lies" on it.

Blues Alley was a cool spot. Slightly pretentious, big money, but cool, nonetheless.

I guess we're kind of jackin' this thread, but oh well... FUNKMISTRESS has disappeared, so we won't get it, so 2 speak...

No, I just meant from my past memories. I think it's probably still there in Georgetown. Adams Morgan was where I hung most of the time though. That was my neighborhood.

Meshell is the BOMB. I haven't ever played with her, but I did hang out with her once in D.C. 2 cool. Most of her band is from D.C., and I used 2 hang with then on the regular. Freddie Peña is one of the baddest living keyboard players.

Easy,
