Mars Volta

Anybody dig them?

I just heard Vicarious Atonement (I think thats the name lol )
and I think I loved that song

They've got a really unique sound that I love, and I think I wanna buy
one of their cds. So which one is best to start with?

Also, is it just me or is the singer really hard to understand??
If you will, so will I

It is not known why FuNkeNsteiN capitalizes his name as he does, though some speculate sunlight deficiency caused by the most pimpified white guy afro in Nordic history.

This band is phenomenal. I'm going to be seeing them open up for the Red Hot CHilli Peppers on Tuesday August 29th in San Diego. They are even better live then on record, and their records are interesting!

i'm slowly getting into them i've never relly been one for prog rock but these guys are pretty tempered with latin and led zep so that's cool. i have Frnces the Mute but not the new one. Many of my friends have seen them live and say the kick ass.

I think they're cool - their live show is great as well.

But not for one moment are they unique. If you want interesting songs played by musicians who are technically proficient at their instrument/craft in a fusion context, give the Mahavishnu Orchestra a listen.

YESSSS, The Mars Volta. To me, they are one of the best bands and if you can see them live then SEE THEM. Me and a friend are seeing them this Thursday in Oakland and this will be my 3rd time seeing them. I got hooked on them with their "De-Loused in the Comatorium" album so I'd suggest you start there but Frances the Mute is an awesome album too. Yeah, Cedric can be hard to understand at times, lol. Glad to see you have an intrest in a very good band that makes MUSIC!!!!

Frances isnt a bad place to start, but De-Loused, IMHO, is a bit more accessible. THe songs have a bit more structure, and its a little less abstract. I love both of these albums and you really cant go wrong w/either one. Good luck!
A happy face, A Thumpin Bass, For A Lovin' Race. PEACE.
