Great Year for Barry Manilow

I think it's really Cool that Barry Manilow has been able to Come Back&Strike such a Chord.I saw Him with Dave Wild on "Bravo" Network back in March.saw His CBS Special&Read a Couple of books on Him.He has made a Good Comeback. He had some interesting Comments to say about Clive Davis through the Years. The Guy is a Very Talented Composer&Arranger.

Yes. I agree. Her name is Lola. At the Copa. Copacabana. Music and passion was always the fashion at the Copa. Can't believe Bette Midler used to open up for him. Can you? Before my time, but I heard it was great!

I'll get burned for this but wtf? B.M. was Bettes' piano player and Melissa Manchester was one of her harletts.

Yeah,he's having a great year. His greatest hits collection ("Ultimate Manilow") reached Number Three on the Billboard charts, and his new studio album (distributed independently) is selling well, too. Many young people are attending his concerts these days.Oddly enough,Arista Records dropped him a few years ago, certain that his hit-making days were over.Perhaps they should re-consider?

Who says you can't make a comeback in today's competitive pop music world? In recent years, "has-beens" like Carlos Santana,Cher and now Barry Manilow have all done the seemingly impossible.

I can't speak for Celine Dion since I'm not really a fan,but Barry has done some great songs( don't make me write another list...lol...).The melodies are nice, his piano playing is superb and he's a great vocalist. No,it may not be the most "groundbreaking" music you ever heard, but it has it's place in the pop music arena.

It is a trip how people who are into Prince (and everyone here is or they wouldnt eve bother with porg) can dog other artists. Prince's music and image was such an outside the mainstream art that was ridiculed by others etc so much that it sometimes amazes me how any Pfan could trip on another artist no matter how supposedly lame...half the tough guys etc wouldnt even bother listen to a softy artists like Mannilow, Manchester etc but they cite Princes cover of Joni Mitchells Case Of U as one of his best songs that hes ever done etc. This dicothomy is interesting. Its like a Led Zep fan back in the day talking shit about black muisic whe the artist he is a heavy duty fan of was raised and influenced by it. Chapter 12.
