Scritti Politti - White Bread Black Beer

Just picked this one up. Or downloaded it. Whatever. Pleasantly surprised. I know there were a lot of Scritti fans who didn't care for 'Anomie & Bonhomie'. I wasn't one of them, I loved it. But this album, in terms of the melody and harmonies reminds me very much of 'Cupid & Psyche '85'. In fact, I'm beginning to think that Green Gartside is a very underrated talent.

Anyone already heard it? If so, what do you think?

Not sure if that is their new album or not. The new one is really good. I saw them play at the Big Chill.

Bam Bam Bam.... cool

If it sounds like 'Cupid & Psyche '85' it must be good, I was disappointed by the album with Oh Patti.

'Oh Patti' was on 'Provision'. That was the release just after 'Cupid & Psyche '85'. And don't let me mislead you. I think the melodies on this album are in that vein, but the general sound of the album is not like 'Cupid & Psyche '85'. This album is a quite a bit more stripped down in sound.

I think the album is the best one since Cupid & Psyche, but its no where near as good. Boom Boom Bap is particularly good.

I saw them in concert the other week and they were great. The new album sounded much better live. I think the the vocal production on the CD is a bit too electronic.

Hey you all find the Stevie Wonder's cover of I don't know why I love you ( it was sung by the Jackson5 too) by Green Garthside, the leader of Scritti Politti, it's magical!
