 I know what you mean! I used to think this very thing as a kid watching Solid Gold. She used to really irritate me. Kind of like how Denny Terrio used to ruin the end of dance routines on Dance Fever. 
Of course, as a young kid, this was all I knew of Dionne Warwick. I didn't know she had a career before Solid Gold. I like some of her stuff now though.
