Red Hot Chili Peppers open the show with "Around The World". Then they play "Get On Top", "Suck My Kiss" with a kick ass guitar solo played by John Frusciante which goes for about 8 minutes. Then George Clinton comes on stage to do "Give It Away" with them. Then Chili Peppers leave and George Clinton is joined by Parliament. They do "Tear The Roof Off The Mother", "Unfucky UFO", "Handcuffs" and "Flashlight". Then Prince joins them onstage to perform "Erotic City". Parliament leave and Prince is joined on stage by his lovesexy band. They perform "DMSR" for like 15 minutes and then they do "Bambi", "The Beautiful Ones", "The Marrykind/If Eye Was The Man In Your Life" and "A Million Days". Then Michael Jackson comes on stage and him and Prince do "Bad". The the Jacksons join Michael and they do "Can You Feel It", "Dancing Machine", "Shake Your Body", "Heartbreak Hotel", "Lovely One", "Walk Right Now", "Don't Stop" and "Rock With You". Then Michael says "goodnight" as if it was the end of the show. Then about 5 minutes later, Chad Smith comes out and does a kick ass drum solo. Then Flea comes out and bust out on the bass. Frusciante comes out and starts shreding his guitar. Then Kiedis comes out and the bust starts playing "Storm In A Teacup", "Torture Me", "Hump De Bump", "By The Way", "Scar Tissue", "Californication" and they finish with "Under The Bridge". Then the show truly ends.

That would be a perfect concert.

For a Large Venue/Arena
Sly & the Family stone
The Who
Parliament/Funkadelic
Duke Ellington
James Brown

For a Smaller Club
Charlie Parker and Dizzy Gillespie (with whatever other musicians they chose although Bud Powell or Monk on piano would be ideal, as would either Kenny Clarke or Max Roach on drums)
Curtis Mayfield
Big Joe Turner
John Coltrane (either with the classic quartet or joining in on Miles Davis' classic quintet)
Isley Brothers

Thanx bro !

There might be a few lucky orgers here from the UK , who have witnessed concerts from Kleeer , Mtume & Slave .... all around the years 1984 to 1986 .
Lucky bastads evillol .... pout
I've read an amazing concert-review of Slave's opening-concert from the UK-tour in 1984 .
Above the stage of the venue was a big SLAVE-logo litten-up in blue-laserlight .
The show opened with an aeroplane-sounding noise ( like in We Come To Blow Ya Mind ( 1982 ) ) .
A blazing horn-section fired-up the intro with Stellar Fungk and much more classics passed along that night .

I actually have a runners-up list ... 5 choices are TOO TUFF 4 me lol

( shucks shukcs pout ... 2 hard ... Dayton , Ozone , Bobby Nunn , Ebonee Webb , Jakky Boy & The Bad Bunch , New Horizons , Aurra , BB&Q Band , Change , High Fashion , etc )
.
.

I could never narrow it to just one dream ~ but for starters ~

Bjork
Tori
PJ Harvey

with Imogen Heap opening and TRICKY as guest artist!!!!! That would be insane. This one would HAVE to be on Olympic Island in Toronto in summer.

Then, I'd switch to stage two for Joni Mitchell circa late 60's early 70's
Bob Dylan (on a good day)
Nick Drake
Van Morrison
and maybe early Eric Clapton (acoustic) in the old Cellar coffee house in Port Huron, Michigan where I first heard Joni play ~ early Fall would be perfect for this.

I'd then have to have a bit of the ethereal, deeply spiritual sounds of
Dead Can Dance
Cocteau Twins
Sigur Ros
David Sylvian
and hmmmm ~ have to fill this one in later

just a start ~ fun to dream but way too many favourites!

In no particular order, these are the artists I'd include in my "dream concert". It would be perfect if all of these artists performed at a small private club instead of a large venue.

Prince
Bob Dylan
The Beatles
Sam Cooke & Marvin Gaye
George Michael
Carlos Santana
