i want you-marvin gaye as long i've always been a big fan of this song and album, i've always wished they would've released this song as a whole instead of in parts. i know the reason they did that was because the concept of this album was a musical love story, but when i hear the intro jam on side 2 i always feel like it ends a lil 2 soon...

Yes, I got this one recently and while it's great, I found this to be slightly strange and not really working.

I love this album, at one time I even prefer it to "what's Going On", but I do agree some of the songs sound uncompleted, giving the album an unfinished sound. But for the song "I want You" you alone the album is a classic. [Edited 8/18/06 14:42pm]

[Edited 8/18/06 14:42pm] I don't think I Want You is Marvin's best. It's too indebted to its writer/arranger/producer Leon Ware's original arrangements, but it's still a fine albu,. I prefer Here,My Dear. There are three sides to every story. My side, your side, and the truth. And no one is lying. Memories shared serve each one differently

I Want You is not only one of my favorite Marvin Gaye albums, but it's one of my favorite soul albums period! It's just the sheer beauty and the sexual intensity of the album's arrangements and Leon Ware's production that really holds the record together. Not to mention Marvin's fine and smoothed out vocals that makes the album a certified masterpiece in my book... Check me out and add me on:

This edition of IWY has a better upgrade of the original album, alternate mixes, and full disc of the IWY sessions. A real gem! [Edited 8/19/06 1:27am] Check me out and add me on:
