I used to work in an Adult Video Boutique, and whenever I played that album, I sold more dildos, scented oils, and lether fettish products than any of the other shifts.

Ridiculously good album. I remember buying this in '96 and I was blown away by Welcome, I simply couldn't believe how authentic, pure, soulful and honest his vocals were. The music was unbelievably good too. So many great songs on this record, it hooked me as a Maxwell fan for life. Unplugged and Embrya continued to expand upon his brilliance and showed that he would be a true artist.

Not much I can add here. As many have said, this is a fantastic album.
Isn't he due to drop a new one soon..? • Did you first think Prince was gay? •
Wendy: He’s a girl, for sure, but he’s not gay. He looked at me like a gay woman would look at another woman. Lisa: Totally. He’s like a fancy lesbian.

I don't know what the final tally, I think 2 million copies though. The weird thing is, "Til The Cops Come Knockin'" FLOPPED as a single and then "Ascension" dropped and the album blew up from there. ~This brown experience made me the man that I was meant to be~

This is the album. I put it on every Sunday night when I take a bubble bath. Candles burning throughout my place, giving it a romantic glow. Sandalwood incense floating through my pad.
Of course, the music is that of Sweetback, the band that backs Sade and I love me some Sade.

I remember coming home to chat with my fellow Auraqual (remember that?) members. And then was there for the 2001 tour which he cancelled which he rescheduled around Thanksgiving of 2001. And then he made up for tour dates during the summer of 2002. I went to that too. He sure does cancel alot of shows. Thank You San Alejo for getting rid of my enemies. :-0
Thank You SO much Saint Expedite for your help Thank You Virgin de Guadalupe for helping my friend Thank You Saint Anthony for returning my wallet to me untouched

Anybody knows what Maxwell has been doin' lately or recently? Seems like ages ago I heard about him which is a damn shame since the guy is so talented and his voice is amazing.
I do hope he's recording somewhere and getting an album out soon, followed by a Euro tour. Hell yeah, I would be sooo there! Forever changed

It's now 5 years since "Now" was released(August 2001).
He was expected to release a new CD in 2006 along with The Fugees, nothing has been announced yet from Columbia/Sony Urban. At this point I'm thinking it won't surface until 2007. Check out that Billboard article from September 2005 right here: http://www.billboard.com/...1001180186

I was introduced to this CD on my way to work one morning. I was coming from the train and heard the intro to "Till the cops come Knockin". I stopped dead in my tracks. I was like, WTF!! I walked straight inside the store and purchased the cd. Mind you, he just showed me the back of the cd. I have only purchased one other cd in this matter, (Chante Moore's, debut). Never had I heard something to sweet and mind flipping. That CD,in my opinion had set the mark and created the blueprint on what was to become, "Neo-Soul". It is a pity that few artist, including him, to a certain extend have failed to follow it. This cd, has turned out to be the soundtrack to some of my romances. It is in constant rotation in my Ipod. here's what i have so far in regards 2 what M has been up 2
this is all "word on the street" stuff, nothing's been confirmed 1)he has been working on an album caled "black summer's night" but sony will not release it because of it's home-erotic OVERtones. yep, that's right!!! he is supposedly singing 2 his male lover and saying all of the naughty things he wants 2 do 2 him and done 2 him. 2)in addition to#1, he is battling a serious drug addiction i dont know about#1, if its true, so the f**k what. #2 i have heard from some reliable sources that he likes 2 ride the white horse. imho, i dont think he has been the same since the embrya/dream hampton thang. this so-called music crtic took it upon herself 2 start a "beef" between m and d'angelo. she trashed embrya and said that m would NEVER be like D because D is the heir 2 prince's throne. m began 2 second guess himself as an artist, hence the reason why now sounds like a forced combination of embrya and uhs. he was trying 2 please people instead of follow his own muse. m and d (and ms.hill) had IT. when i saw m perform 10 years ago at ohio state on his FIRST tour, he had amazing stage presence. no one has had that on their first tour. they might have had potential. this dude already had IT!!! i dont know who is 2 blame 4 the reason why they are scared of their own shadows. personal demons? maybe. but as an artist, u work through that mess.high expectations? yep. everyone, label, critics, and fans didnt allow them 2 grow. it's been said over and over. it took 6 years 4 prince 2 find his niche and make purple rain. minor keys and drugs don't make a rollerskate jam

Someone on this board once wrote, that one of the differences between Prince and so many of his so-called heirs is that Prince's need to make music was stronger that his inner demons. Just wanted to say that because sometimes I really cannot understand why so many artists let drugs ruin their career (assuming he does in fact have a drug addiction).
