Danity Kane....Puffy's biggest bomb?

Well it could be, after taking years to put this together, advance orders, airplay, and things like that are not looking good. Though i could care less about things like this and numbers, you kinda feel a little bad for the ladies because they are on this trainwreck and they really have no supertalent in the group where u could say that "girl" is something special. Just based on orders for the 8/22 new releases Danity Kane is behind Outkast and Paris Hilton by quite a bit, and seeing how much $$ Mtv, and Puffy put into this they are banking on a 200,000+ first week number and they are not even near that yet, on advance orders they have them in the 60-70,000 range which is nothing be sad about but i guess when you put some much $$ to buy a chartplace and dont get it im sure this will be the last Making the Band.

I dont think its really that, i think he is trying to create something, but its all been done already. I mean do we really need another RB/Pop female group. There is nothing different here, i mean he produced the whole thing so i think it is a reflection on him more than them. I think its him wanting to put out something with staying power, but in RB there really isnt "staying power" anymore.

Good question. Whatever did happen to Dream? Do people still respect Diddy as a producer or has his time passed? It's all about Scott Storch, Timbaland and the Neptunes now. He needs to step it up!

True but i think Puffy was the one that ruined producing and made it all about Beats and Samples which is what these "hip" producers , mentioned above do. Scott storch better be ready for some bashing, because his work on the Paris Hilton record is god awful, and you cant blame her voice or talent because he doesnt exactly work with the most talented poeple anyway.

Me to i had to open the thread because i didnt realize who this thread was about.

I also think that they have to be really dumb to expect those type of numbers. I thought it was about the television serious and t.v. ratings, then hey if u sell a few records thats a bonus

it really doesn't. "Destiny's Child" actually makes some kind of sense as a phrase, you can infer what the meaning is. "Danity Kane" ... what the hell is that? It's like a character on "Ghetto Dynasty" or something.

Diddy is doing the same thing to these young women that he did to Da Band. He's usng the show to make as much $$ off them as he can, then he'll get rid of them. The odds are really stacked against Danity Kane.

Not by a longshot, Cassie is not a product of Puffys at all, though singed to BadBoy, its not his investment, in fact she sold 100,000 in week 1 which is a shock. But you have to remember that about a year ago this was a girl who put her bio and demos on Myspace and then got signed by Sony/Badboy from that. So i dont see her bombing, i mean she is basically Sonys version of Ciara so there is no staying power, though she has some better music that the label wont go with because its not typical crap. I mean the days of selling a million are over, 250,000 is the new million now.

Isn’t Cherrie Dennis under Puffy/Bad Boy? Did she even have a full length album?

I dont know who these Dannity Kane chicks are but if I was any one them I’d save every single penny I got (if I got any) and learn about real estate investments ’cause fifteen minutes doesn’t last very long.

yea but how long will she last? i mean i seriously dont see her being around a year from now, theres already a cassie backlash goin on on the internet from that shitty 106 performance and diddys bullshit excuses for her

And does he really put that much energy into his own stuff...

Yeah, Puffy sure peaked in the mid-ninties and after that nearly everything he touches either tanks or is only a moderate hit. It seems like much more effort was put into making the show a hit than the album but I don't think he really expected outsell either Outkast (and probably not Paris either....not in the first week).

No you are totally right on that, there really isnt staying power with any of these artists coming through. As far as the backlash and the shitty performance is the nature of the talent thats out there, i have said this so many times, no of these artists knowing ANYTHING about singing, i will go so far as to put Beyonce and Aguilera in that class of not Knowing how to Sing. In Cassies place this girl wasnt even supposed to sing, she was a print model they saw her, she got interested in music, some producer slapped a beat together and boom a top 5hit, i mean its really that easy, I blame that 100% on the producers of today and Labels for not knowing what they are signing.

I never liked the name Destiny' Child. It think it's dumb. Don't like the name Danity Kane either. It does sound like a ghetto soap star. Erika Kane's ghetto niece or something. They could have come up with something better than that!

I shouldnt be surprised. Cant there be one act not pushed into the skinny/sexy box? I just saw Nicole of PCDs video with Puffy dancing around and I thought it was the damn Dannity Kane girls. After awhile its all the same sh!t.

1. Dream were already a girl group long before getting sign to Bad Boy.

2. Dream's biggest downfall was piss poor marketing (the same damn thing that happen to New Edition with their only Bad Boy release).

thats the thing tho, they KNOW wat they're signing: the thing is they dont care. as long as u eye candy ur good to go. if cassie was ugly or fat no one would even know her name. and thats sad. so many talent people are getting the fuck you cuz they dont fit the mold or they got more in their heads besides sex.
but its like i was saying before, there IS a backlash beginning against he rand i think people are beginning to wise up to the bullshit. and i wouldnt even have so much of a problem with a cassie or ciara here and there if there was more variety in the mainstream - thats probably part of the backlash aswell
