I think in his own way Jermaine Jackson was successful. It's no use comparing him with Michael, because very few people have that Kind of success. But Jermaine was part of one of the biggest and best boy bands ever and he did have some success with his solo work, obviously not as much as he would have liked but after the success of Michael, Janet and the Jackson 5, I would say he was the fourth successful act in the family. I liked the "Let's Get Serious" album and the singles "Let Me Tickle Your Fancy" and "Paradise In Your Eyes". Other than that, he was either too mellow or too pop. Andy is a four letter word.

No question about that whatsgoingon , absolutely on point . But the possibility of Jermaine's potention of superstar was questioned here and then you can't ignore that possibilties faded somehow during the thriller-era as Prince and Madonna being the only ones surfing on the same high commercial waves at that time , cause that's what it's all about with the Billboard-charts ... sales-numbers and "some" attention for creativity , cause JJ had absolute potention as singer/musiciam/producer , with some hits&misses .

Let Me Tickle You Fancy is a very pop-sounding song imo . Worth to check the complete album . I think you might dig his funk-track Running on there . Otherwise listen to Got To Have Ya , on the album before ... wanna hear thumping funkbass and blazing horns ... that's definitely the one to check ... a forgotten & overlooked jam . . . . . That title sounds familiar. . . [Edited 8/19/06 13:39pm] Andy is a four letter word.

Don't some of you see the Jacksons has some kind of music factory ....I mean back in 80s, I went into a well known record shop, under the Jackson section in the RnB part of the shop, there was a whole section dedicated to the Jackson family. So although we had other well known Jacksons like Freddie Jackson and Millie Jackson, virtually the whole section was taken up by the Jackson family in different guises; So there was the Jackson 5 and the Jacksons divisions(and they actually divided the J5 and the Jacksons up) the Michael Jackson division, the Janet Jackson division, the Jermaine Jackson division, the Latoya and Rebbie Jackson divisions and I think at that time Marlon had release his first ever solo album so he had he own division... Absolutely! Jermaine always had what it take to have a solo career. Just not a pop artist.

Yeah, he had potential.
Then he teamed up with Pia Zadora.

I like Jermaine, but let's not get it twisted. "Let's Get Serious" was pure Stevie. Anyone could've sang that song and it still would've been a hit. A lot of y'all are sleeping on You Said. That album is pretty good—some of LaFace's best work in that time. "You Said, You Said" and "I Dream, I Dream" are my jams. She wanted to be a star and he wanted her to be one. I think the guy tried to get his son to get her on the cover of Spin....Could you imagine? And I'm confused....What is with this Jermaine Jackson stuff...I didn't know they got married but I guess I would take Janet's name, too.

Jermaine does no dancing in that video though unfortunately as he did in the video "dynamite". It has to be seen to be believed. I love the dancing and whole theme in that. One of my fav videos ever

That video is horrible has a "Jailouse Rock" theme,Jermaine is in prison, singing the song.At one point, everyone escapes and starts dancing.Very 80s-tacky

"Daddy's Home" (1972) "Let's Get Serious" (1980) "Let Me Tickle Your Fancy" (1982) "Tell Me I'm Not Dreamin" with Michael (1984) "Do What You Do" (1984) "Don't Take It Personal" (1988) He really could have been a superstar. The problem is,he had a more popular brother to compete with. I'd like to add 2 of my favorites to this list: "That's How Love Goes", "You Need To Be Loved" ..."think from a positive place, and eliminate the negative fate"...
