If I love NIN...

... what other good names in the industrial/rock/alt. metal/whatever other category along those lines would I enjoy? I know stuff that came before NIN like Ministry are obvious choices, but what else is there to check out? And again, I'm not just talkin' about "industrial"-type acts.

Just asking because I love those masterfully and beautifully crafted works of rage Pretty Hate Machine and The Downward Spiral so much. cool

Scarling is another band that could easily hang with Nine Inch Nails. Lead singer Jessicka used to be in Jack Off Jill.

I also really dig the first A Perfect Circle record. Paz was still in the band then before she left for Zwan.

Gary Numan - His Industrial/Post-NewWave albums like "Sacrifice", "Exile" and "Pure" are very NIN-like. If you can stand his Brit accent, there's some good stuff there.

Other Industrial/alternative style groups might be Filter, Pop Will Eat Itself, Throbbing Gristle, Meat Beat Manifesto, Revolting Cocks, Prong, Kidney Thieves, Fear Factory, etc.

A few edgier Industrial acts I know of are Front Line Assembly, Project Pitchfork, Android Lust, Flesh Field, Velvet Acid Christ, Gridlock, Mentallo & The Fixer and Cyber-Tec.
music I'm afraid of Americans. I'm afraid of the world. music

hmmm

I like Front242, Skinny Puppy, and some Nitzer Ebb and BiGod 20.

This is a good place to start: http://www.amazon.com/gp/...09?ie=UTF8

Now that I'm older it really sounds a bit...erm...recycled, but the songs are still neat.

Mindless Self Indulgence sounds like nothing you've ever heard before. The best description I can think of is industrial hip-hop punk and even that isn't quite accurate. Their live shows have to be seen to be believed.

It is not known why FuNkeNsteiN capitalizes his name as he does, though some speculate sunlight deficiency caused by the most pimpified white guy afro in Nordic history.

AFI

The last two AFI albums are also slightly industrial-ish.

How about Lacuna Coil? Would they be classified as "industrial"?

I love Lacuna Coil! To me they are more goth-metal, but I'm sure they share fans with NIN.
