I miss Pac. Greatest rapper period.

For everyone that hating on him, remember to have a lil respect for the dead.

Im not even going to waste my time reading all the negative comments about Tupac.

Im glad a lot of you'll dont like Tupac, Pac represented a ppl that didnt have a voice, i.e the thugs, hookers, pimps. addicts x-convicts, all the have nots.

He was our Soldier, ride or die!!!!!

agreed...but most art does not affect an entire community of people...negatively.
I'm sorry but I am a member of that community and Pac's music affected me positively. Can you tell me what you consider so negative about it?

like Dewrede stated, the whole thuglife nonsense...the image he portrayed was damning...if he wanted to artistically address a group of people's issues that were being ignored there were far more constructive ways to do it (probably using the same lyric) then to perpetuate an image of gangs, thuggary and degrading woman.

but thats just how i feel about the subject.

Has anybody heard the Dear Mama remake by Lyfe? It may or may not be good, but I just can't believe that someone would remake one of Tupac's songs. It's like you don't mess with Luther, Marvin and you definitely don't mess with Pac's songs.

I havent heard it but i thinks its going to be a hit, he sings the lyrics. There's not a rapper in the game today that hasent borrowed from Tupac. Most of the young cats were introduced to this culture of ours thru Pac.

Pac didnt create "thuglife" he disected it and brought light to it. He wanted people to see whats really going on in the streets and change it quick.

but i dont think the originator of this thread was looking to debate about Pac.
If you dont have any love for the man, stay out the thread please, pretty please. thank you

(me and Pac) Me and Pac were just gutter kids
(find a way) Find a way to make it big
(we always) Knew each other, before we knew each other
I loved him like he was my brother
I wish I could wish him back
If I could wish him back
Then I would wish him back
If I could wish him back

--from My Story, Wicked Wisdom (Jada)

Jada
u r the omega of my heart
the foundation of my conception of love
when i think of what a black woman should be
its u that i first think of

u will never fully understand
how deeply my heart feels 4 u
i worry that we'll grow apart
and i'll end up losing u

u bring me 2 climax without sex
and u do it all with regal grace
u r my heart in human form
a friend i could never replace
Been gone for a minute, now I'm back with the jump off

Which shows you truly don't know the man, because Pac was never about that lifestyle, it was all for media and the hype. The REAL Pac was what you got when he was first locked up - introspective/activist.

you got me messed up, and your missing my point.

Yes tupac's mother was a Panther, but dont forget she was a CRACKHEAD to.

You can can be introspective/activist and human all at the same time. There is nothing to argue about, again like i said those were TUPAC's WORDS not mine how are you going to argue that?

Yes, she was a drugg addict but he was "repping" for her to that status, he repped her activism. The concrete represents the streets, but Pac wasn't necessarily repping ALL aspects of the street. It wasn't until he got with DeathRow that he started this "Thuglife" decree.

Im not a thug, gangsta, pimp, hooker, drug addict or victim of lifes unforseen circumstances. I love Tupac' music. He spoke from the heart. He was an artist with flaws like everyone else. We just got to see them. Jimi Hendrix and Lennon had flaws too. One was a drug addicted, woman beater. I still dig there music as well. You either get Pac's message or you don't. Everytime a new hip hop artist comes along with their Fake swagger and wannabe Bad ass pose. I miss Tupac even more. I don't support hiphop financially anymore. Except for DMX. Everyone else I just Steal there music. R.I.P. Poetic Soldier.

I agre with everything u said. i think you guys are missing my point or im not communicating effectively.

I didnt say u have to be a "thug" to listen to Tupac the majority of his fans (ppl who acutally bought his music) were middle class white folks.

VH1 has been playing his movie all last week, and in one of his interviews they asked Tupac who does he represent. Thats when he said he repped for the thugs and have nots. if you dont believe go get the DVD.

So once again what i said was a quote from Pac, i dont see how u can argue about that.

Maybe not where you're from but where I'm from, yes they are artistic statements presented by people that do not represent everything that's wrong with our culture. They just happened to be the ones to expose a great deal of what it is wrong with our culture to the rest of the world through their images and their rhymes.

It is dead wrong that there are mothers who turn their children into crack babies.

It is dead wrong that there are people in our culture whose only means of financial support comes on the first of the month and they blow that on drugs.

It is dead wrong that too much television watching has got people chasing dreams.

Don't hate the messengers...hate the message!

Tell it like it is. U nailed that one SexyBeautifulOne....I can relate 2 every word u typed and everyone else that has experienced that life or know who has. thumbs up!

like Dewrede stated, the whole thuglife nonsense...the image he portrayed was damning...if he wanted to artistically address a group of people's issues that were being ignored there were far more constructive ways to do it (probably using the same lyric) then to perpetuate an image of gangs, thuggary and degrading woman.

but thats just how i feel about the subject.

lol
And I respect your opinion but none of us knew the man. We didn't walk in his shoes or fight his battles. We all have demons that we fight everyday. Pac just chose to put his battles on wax. When I think about Pac, I think about Keep ya Head Up or So Many Tears which probably told more of the real 2Pac than any gangsta, thug flow he put out. I think that if all folks want to see is bad, then that's all they are going to see. Every artist out here has done dirt and folks love them in spite of that and we love 2Pac, flaws and all.

i'm not changing it just because you don't get my whole point to this thread....me asking Wonder what he'd have to say about the state of hip hop now? hmmm had nothing to do with what you were talking about. You stated how you didn't care for his music and how he represented it, or whatever...you said nothing about what he would think about hip hop now or anything. So i think its you who don't get it. Sorry.

oh and you can still have fun on the thread, its just the whole idea of someone trying to be judgemental and acting like a dictator of "how bad he portrayed himself" attitude is what gets on my nerves. It wasn't so much you doing this, but some others on here is all.

My intentions was for the thread to be fun and loving towards the artist mentioned.
