Beyonce - Deja VU - that´s funky!

Sorry, if there was already a thread on this song, but I just wanted to say that I am just crazy about this song! It´s the best stuff done recently. I love it. Go Beyonce! If the rest of the album is gonna be like this, I am definately getting it.

headbang music

I'm not a huge fan or anything, but I gotta admit, this song isn't half bad.The best thing is...it's FAST! Most R&B songs these days are slow or midtempo, like Janet's new boring single."Deja Vu" has a strong, catchy chorus too.

It's good. The only thing that turns me off about the song is her, the jiggly b*tch.

• Did you first think Prince was gay? •

Wendy: He’s a girl, for sure, but he’s not gay. He looked at me like a gay woman would look at another woman. Lisa: Totally. He’s like a fancy lesbian.

yeah, I like that bassline. The only thing I could do without is Jigga's raps. I don't mind the "Bee's about to sting, stand back!" part, but the rap at the end drags the song down, imo.
Sounds like this song is more about voodoo than "deja vu." whatever, there's real bass and horns. I dig.

I love this song.

Love the video.

And I confess, a lot of the charm for me is the chemistry with Beyonce and Jay-z musically.

All his raps HIT on their collabos. Love them!

P.S. Can't wait for Ring the Alarm

I disagree based on a personal taste .
The sick bassguitar-line is undoubtly representing plus the fact of added & blazing horns and most of all the uptempo bumps .
All these ingredients have become rarer in a lesser-BPM-presenting R&B-hiphop .
Uptempo jams are more common within the dance-house scene . There are enough fests and parties in my hood and country which play that music and too which peeps are hip to .
But the overall style with Urban Soul ( especially in the commercial mainstream-market ) is midtempo to slow .
With an exception of some more unfamiliar releases from independent artists within the market they call "grown folks music" and not at least the current urban-gospel , with lots of uptempo-jams and solid live instrumentation . It's amazing how musically skilled these cats are .
.

2 each it's own , but the bass-guitar is def cool .
It adds the funk to the jam .
I guess there is the urge that it has to relate to P-Funk or a JB-groove , which actually limits oneself to look beyond that .
I've learned that from a line that Larry Blackmon ( Cameo ) once told .
He said : "Country-singer Kenny Rogers has a funky approach of singing"
It all is a matter of taste in the end , but who ever defined a rule of what is supposed to be funky or not ?

Well, anything Beyonce releases is not funky in my book wink

Structurally, its a good song. Great bass line, uptempo, nice horns, it has a CHANGE in it (OMFG), which is unheard of these days and overall it has all of the elements of a good song. Unfortunately, in this instance I think Bey's frantic vocals on the chorus that hurt it. I like Beyonce but this track sounds like she really rushed it in the studio.

I dig the intro of the video though .
That's where it builds up cool with the infectious bassline on the roll .
The tension there is great imo , along with the spherish shadow-lightning .
The choreography that follows is indeed a big miss .

I know what you mean. I definately do know a lot funkier tracks, but considering other latest releases and the music that airs on MTV, this track ROCKS! Nowadays most songs seem to me to be about 30% good - too plain, repetitive and artificial with no emotions. And as for this song I´d rate it 70%. I just love the bass line, the horns and the verses singing. The chorus is a bit too repetitive and I wouldn´t mind if the rap was missing as well. But as I said, for me, out of those recent "hits" this one is THE BEST! biggrin

Sorry I 've got to say this song is luke warm to me. And I'll add two things 1st I'm not a Beyonce fan, 2nd I've been spoiled in terms of the Jaz collabo's. Tha 1st one "Girlfriend" was Cool I thk cause it was tha 1st time seeing them together and the song was preety cool. But when they came out with "Crazy" and it has those I think Eddie kendrick "keep on truckin " horn sample that was OFF THA CHAIN. So when I here Deja Vu its like putting on a ACT to Follow MJ or Prince ur like OK II'm ready to go home now. lol
