Lettuce - Live in Tokyo

=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=
Lettuce is the group that began the careers of several noted "jam band" musicians: Eric Krasno of Soulive, Adam Deitch of the John Scofield Band, Adam Smirnoff of the Squad, Jeff Bhayshk of Kudu, Ryan Zoidis of Rustic Overtones, and Eric Coomes, now a Los Angeles-based producer.

Lettuce comes raw: no fluff, nothing smooth, just hard funkiness. It combines the grittiness of the Meters with the harmonic textures of Herbie Hancock. There is finally some funk that sounds like it was produced in the 70’s vs modern day computer software, which most recent funk releases are infested by. These guys are the real deal.

Live in Tokyo captures Lettuce on their November 2003 tour of Japan. After a week of shows the tour climaxed at their Blue Note performance in Tokyo. Taking the greatest moments of that night and condensing it down to one disc was a five month process. Let the Funk begin.

I can only testify here as t/A turned me on to this funk a couple of years ago.

Outta Here will just leave you on the floor wondering who just funked ya. It made a friend of mine say, Damn, I wonder what celery sounds like" lol

Then they pull it off live on the Toyko disc as well.

Thx for the reminder to listen again t/A, this funk kills.

You're most welcome.

Just trying to keep track of bands that know how to throw down.
Nyack on the Live disc is a good example of what scorched earth sounds like. cool

falloff

Try to keep those breaks at that time, and that's just the rhythm section.

Where are the people who know what funk is around this place? WTF!
