Ain't No Big Deal is Madonna's best song After listening to the Steve Bray demo and the First Album demo and the Killer B's version on repeat for 6 hours, I've come to that conclusion. Brilliant. And she didn't even take credit for the lyrics. How humble of her.

Do you think she even washed her hair for that photo? ^
Anyway, yeah the version from 1981 is nice. I bought Pre-Madonna for my younger sister so I've heard it.

Kinda fitting, actually. My favorite is the 1st album demo, which JUST surfaced this year in its entirety. The Pre-Madonna version is great, too, though I prefer the 1996 remix Steve did for the Pre-Madonna album.

Oh, I see what you're saying about all the different versions... I haven't heard this First Album demo...
How does it compared to the official version (b-side to "Papa Don't Preach")? I could easily imagine that song as part of the debut's sequence:

I could easily imagine that song as part of the debut's sequence: Well, my pet, it is almost identical to the first album version except it has less instrumentation and a different vocal take. And less vamping. It's just straight Madonna, all young and sweet and innocent and not-slut-like.

I like the offical version better, though the Pre-Madonna version is funkier and more disco.

I don't think I could hate that album because it would be giving it too much credit...It's just her safest effort. It does nothing for me...I'm even bored by the hits (except for "Angel"). I can't believe Nile Rogers producded that when you consider he also did "Diana".

Well, I think the point was to make Madonna as big as possible, without any thought about her actual artistic direction. I mean, look at the title track. You can almost hear Madonna's reaction: "Oh! I'll be all over the papers! And maybe I can even get my nudes sent to Playboy..."

Out of all the early Madonna songs and demos, the best one is "Don't You Know".I can't believe that this song didn't appear on her first album!

I could easily imagine that song as part of the debut's sequence: you know what, this should have been the tracklist to her first album: Lucky Star Ain't No Big Deal Burning Up Don't You Know Holiday Think Of Me Physical Attraction Everybody Yes,I removed the tracks "I Know It" and "Borderline",two songs I can live without

I agree. Very hot. As you said above, "I Know It", which kind of reminds me of the Renaianssance Fair with some of it's goofy instrumentation is OK but nothing great. Now "Borderline".....

The songs are very similar and I have a better appreciation for Borderline now.
