I'ma add one mo' to the list.

Brick
'Brick'

This album while having some standout singles, doesn't get IMO as much credit as it deserves. Most folks are well acquainted with 'Ain't Gonna Hurt Nobody' and 'Dusic'. But there are several other funky tunes like 'Living From The Mind', 'Happy', 'We Don't Wanna Sit Down, We Wanna Get Down' and 'Honey Chile'.

For my tastes Brick, in general, doesn't get enough credit for their output.

I always thought that living from the mind was a bit slept on also. I remember a couple of well known artists who sampled that tune.--twista being one of them. I loved that one and happy was a pretty mellowyee, parlament flavored jam too.

That's the way a fucking album should look!

Corner all torn off. Record imprint pushing through the cover. Betchoo the inner sleeve is all ripped to hell. If you looked at the spine you wouldn't even be able to read the damn name of it.

Those were the records you were in love with...

I recently discovered Betty Davis. Her Nasty Gal album from the early 70's is funky as hell. Don't know anything about her except that she was married to Miles.
Also, The Baby Huey Story by Baby Huey & The Babysitters. Check out his spaced-out version of A Change Is Gonna Come.

Yeah, I ran a thread a long time ago on Betty Davis. Very underrated.

Here's a few GHASTLY overlooked albums that I don't think may on here are even aware of;

Ruth Copeland's "Self Portrait" from 1969 and "I Am What I Am" from 71. Backed by Funkadelic, these albums are off the hook. It contains some of Eddie Hazel's best playing, in my opinion.

The Bar Kays "Black Rock" album from 1971.

The Temptations:
"Puzzle People" 1969. Heavily influenced by Hendrix. Norman Whitfield was the the main cause of this.

"Masterpiece" and "1990" are both classics, in my opinion, both released in 73. Both albums damn near defy genres.

Cats like George Duke, Roy Ayers and Donald Byrd would catch hell from the jazz community for albums like this, but Thank God for 'em. 'Reach For It' gets more pub, but Follow The Rainbow is my favorite Duke album.

This one I discovered from my father's album collection. I used to pilfer this one and Billy Cobham's 'Inner Conflicts' regularly.

Featuring Derek & Thomas Organ , Chuckii Booker ( as sideman on their 2nd ( below ) & 3rd album ) . All these 3 cats were part of Janet's Rhythm Nation Tour .

The orange-covered album has some raw tracks like Flash and Bite
Their following album has uplifting jams like The Note , Better Wild Than Mild , Baby Be Mine , and a great rendition of JB's Body Heat .
It's a pity that this band stopped recording cause they were on fire and dangerous . A well concepted funkoutfit that could definitely seen as an act to continue the adrenaline-pumping sound from The Time .
TA had the opportunity to see them once . Unfortunately they performed a lot of MNPLS-funk , while they had such smashing material of their own .
A good example of how Tease sounded in the 90's can be heard on some tracks of Chuckii Booker's earlier mentioned album Niice'N Wiild ( title is based on a line from the Tease-track Better Wild Than Mild )

Below here 2 more underground-albums which are more common with the 80's funkfreakz .
Both albums include raw synthesiserfunk and dangerous bassguitar-thumps .
