Isaac Hayes I am looking for an introduction to Isaac Hayes' music, but I don't really know where to start. I heard that his 1969 breakthrough, Hot Buttered Soul was a classic and of course, his seminal soudtrack to the 1971 classic blaxploitation film, Shaft is his most popular work, but I'm pretty confused. I've also heard that there is a new triple-disc collection (which was released last year) called Ultimate Isaac Hayes: Can You Dig It?. So, can any Isaac-heads please recommend an album I should start with? Check me out and add me on:

Well, Shaft and Hot Buttered Soul are good picks. And yea, the Ultimate Isaac Hayes compilation is quite comprehensive, so that might be a good place to start too. It is not known why FuNkeNsteiN capitalizes his name as he does, though some speculate sunlight deficiency caused by the most pimpified white guy afro in Nordic history.

You should definitely get hold of the album "Joy", just for the neverending title track alone. Also, get the album that contains the 21 minute version of Do Your Thing.
The album "To Be Continued" is also great, you´ll recognize some very familiar melodies on it, sampled to death by Puffy etc. I also have Black Moses and Hot Buttered Soul but they are not my favorites, though they´re still nice albums. I heard a while ago that Prince was supposed to work for Isaac Hayes in some form when he was 16 but I don´t know where I heard it, it was a Prince documentary( Or some Hayes footage, I don´t remember). Hope this helps...Isaac is the man. " I´d rather be a stank ass hoe because I´m not stupid. Oh my goodness! I got more drugs! I´m always funny dude...I´m hilarious! Are we gonna smoke?"

Also try 1970's "Don't Let Go", the title track being one of my favorite Isaac Hayes songs.

Don't overlook his stellar work with Sam & Dave. Check out their album Soul Man produced by Hayes and Porter.
Recently I've been listening a lot to Isaac's 'The Look of Love', which is one of my favortie songs from the 1970's. I'm not mad at you, I'm mad at the dirt.
