I'm sure for Nia's parents, Mary Jane is just a song and Nia was singing out of innocence VS her parents wanting their child to sing about being in love with smoking weed and thinking its cute.

Looking at a few of the "nia videos". They taped their child singing just as our parents taped us singing and taped us singing songs we didn't know the true meanings of either and it was innocent then and can be now.


I think we've just become so cyncial about everything.

Hi I am Nia's mother. Nia thinks that MaryJane is about Rick James liking a girl. I would never tell her what Rick intended for it to mean. It was all in innocence. She is 4. I used to sing it when I was young and only thought innocent things. Thank you all for the wonderful comments. She is my daughter and i want to go to Bearadise too

Like I said in my You Tube post, I have never seen a child quite like Nia. Not only does she know the words to the songs, she also knows the adlibs. She is adorable!! It is good to see that a child can still have fun in this day and age. To that poster who got all in a bunch over her singing, "Mary Jane"? Let the child be a child....It is not like she is singing that song by Khia, "My neck My Back"...She is just singing for the joy and love of it. To her mom I say, "Bravo"!! You are doing a great job!!.
