Z Cult Favorite "Sentimental Lady"/Bob Welch

Off of Bob Welch's "French Kiss" album released in 77, "Sentimental Lady" is one of my all-time fave songs, ever. I've loved this song all of my life. When I was little, I WORE the 45 single out. Then my mom bought me the album and I remember her not being too crazy about the album title or the cover, since I was so young. I remember that I liked the cover! Anyway, the only song that I played from the album was "Sentimental Lady". I didn't even think about listening to the other songs untill much later. Also Linsey and Christine from Fleetwood Mac produced this song and played on it as well along with Mick Fleetwood. Bob had played guitar with Fleetwood for a few years and the band had actually recorded the song first. Their version is alright. Can't hold a candle to Bob's version though. The intro of this song has to be some of the prettiest music ever recorded to a pop song. The harpsichord has that early Jackson 5 ballad feel ala "Maybe Tomorrow", "I'll Be There" and MJ's "Got To Be There". The lyics to "Sentimental Lady" are cool too and just the way it's sung, it's very, very "seventies". It represents everything that was cool back then, kinda like the ballads from Bread. I don't know, I've always been a sucker for this kind of sound. Anyway, who else digs the song "Sentimental Lady"?

I'll throw in: (Laugh if you want. I don't mind.)

Have You Never Been Mellow - Olivia Newton John
Moonlight Feels Right - Starland Vocal Band
We May Never Pass This Way Again - Seals And Crofts

Well I can't say I've heard Bob Welch's Sentimental Lady, but I do love Duke Ellington's Sentimental Lady (perhaps Bob's is a cover, or perhaps it just coincidentally has the same title)

• Did you first think Prince was gay? •

Wendy: He’s a girl, for sure, but he’s not gay. He looked at me like a gay woman would look at another woman. Lisa: Totally. He’s like a fancy lesbian.

Fantasy is reality in the world today. But I'll keep hangin in there, that is the only way.

Actually, that "Moonlight" tune was Starbuck, but that's Kool. I dig The Vocal Band's "Afternoon Delight", too, so....

Yep, it sure was by Starbuck. I have the 45 single from when I was little. BUT, I must add that I've ALWAYS hated the song "Afternoon Delight". I think it's the female harmonies on the hook and those shooting missles!

Yep, both songs are off of Welch's "French Kiss" album.
