They really are going to have to change the status for gold and Platnum like other countries have it, maybe 200,000 for gold and 500,000 for platnum. "We went where our music was appreciated, and that was everywhere but the USA, we knew we had fans, but there is only so much of the world you can play at once" Magne F

from billboard.com :
With a margin of only a few hundred copies, "NOW 22" is back at No. 1 on The Billboard 200. After moving 127,000 units in the United States, according to Nielsen Soundscan, the 22nd installment of the BMG/Zomba/EMI/UME compilation series rose 2-1 to earn its third non-consecutive week at the top, despite a 16% drop in sales. The No. 2 entry of DMX's "Year of the Dog ... Again" breaks his streak of No. 1 debuts, which his first five sets achieved. The Sony Urban release sold 126,000 copies, enough to arrive at No. 1 on the Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums tally for a sixth time. However, this is the lowest opening week sales tally of DMX's career. Razor & Tie's "Kidz Bop 10" debuts at No. 3 with 117,000, the third album in the series to crack the top 10. "Kidz Bop 9" notched the line's previous best debut, when it bowed with 98,000 at No. 2. The kid-friendly compilation features children singing hits like Madonna's "Hung Up" and Daniel Powter's "Bad Day." "Come What(ever) May" by Stone Sour enters at No. 4 with 81,000 copies and topples Tom Petty's "Highway Companion" from the No. 1 spot on the Top Rock Albums chart. Fronted by Slipknot's Corey Taylor, the group first entered the big chart in 2002 at No. 46 with its self-titled debut. After entering at No. 1 last week, former Destiny's Child chanteuse LeToya's self-titled Capitol effort falls to No. 5 with 65,000 copies, a sales hit of 61%. Petty's "Highway Companion" (American Recordings) slips 4-6 with 57,000 (-49%). In its 13th week on the chart, Gnarls Barkley's Downtown/Atlantic debut "St. Elsewhere" descends 5-7 with 53,000, a sales change of only -1%. Five For Fighting's fourth record, "Two Lights," earns the group its highest chart debut at No. 8. Moving 52,000, the set surpasses the John Ondrasik-led group's previous best, which was the 50,000-copy start of 2004's "The Battle For Everything" (No. 20). The Interscope solo debut from Pharrell Williams, "In My Mind," tumbles 3-9 with a 64% sales drop at 51,000. After 44 weeks on the chart, Nickelback's Roadrunner set "All the Right Reasons" re-enters the top 10 at No. 10 with 44,000 copies (+9%). Other big debuts this week include G. Love's "G. Love's Lemonade," released through Jack Johnson's Brushfire label, at No. 39 with 19,000 (his best week ever). The Pink Spiders' major label debut, "Teenage Graffiti" (Suretone/Geffen), bows at No. 84 with 11,000. At 9.2 million, overall CD sales are up less than 1% from last week and down 13% compared to the same week a year ago. Sales for 2006 are down 6% compared to 2005 at 316.1 million units.

This is the first DMX album to not go to #1. And I highly doubt this one will hold up....Nothing's holding up lately! And damn those numbers are low. I assume that downloads are up, though....they count full album downloads, right? If not, not wonder those numbers are lousy as hell! And when an album that drops in sales is number one and it isn't January.....Labels got some major issues! [Edited 8/9/06 11:17am]

Americans are doomed! I was concerned when i seen our leader has fallen off the charts. But through a dream her madgesty, Madonna has stated she does not care for this shit of a chart. She says that being the highest grossing tour of the year has given her much joy and she has been able to purchase lady Lourdes her own pony. Her madgesty is pleased.

Well labels have themselves to blame for the "glut" in the industry. People are really just catching on that all this new stuff coming out, just plain sucks, stop blaming downloading and the economy, the music JUST SUCKS (im talking about the newer artists, because the Madonnas and Princes always sell there typical 500,000 + to their loyal base) I think labels will be in for a BIG shock this fall when the Beyonce and Justin and all those block busters come out and they all struggle to sell a million, and with all the hype they give these records, labels are putting themselves out of business. I love that the system is finally crashing.
