They are mainly a tracking of what is Shipped out to stores but not really what sells, so if U ship a million to stores u are platnum, it doesnt track what gets sent back by stores when it doesnt sell. Soundscan is a little more accurate but not much, soundscan is about 60-70% accurate since its not actual counter sales, its a tracking of record stores and inventories and reorders. Also some chains are not counted, certain online vendors are not tracked so there really isnt an accurate account.
