Dre says we went to Oprah ! "We went to Oprah because we were pumping this 'Idlewild' film and soundtrack. They sent her a copy of the movie. But the [film's] release dates kept being pushed back and Oprah's show is dormant during the summertime, so there was no chance for us to do it. Next thing we see on the Internet is, 'Outkast turns down Oprah.' They make it seem like we're jumping on the bandwagon with 50 Cent and Ludacris and some people boycotting, which is totally not the case'

This is why I take most of this stuff with a grain of salt. If I don't hear the actual voice or see the actual person saying it, it's either not true or half truth (can be taken out of context).
I remember when the media said Anita Baker had issues with Outkast and blah blah blah. Turns out they never even communicated with the woman. It can be enteraining but I'm not holding anything against anybody without a reliable source or the horse speaks itself. Been gone for a minute, now I'm back with the jump off

Back when the first "Oprah vs. rappers" story broke, I said it smelled of bored media types trying to create a story involving famous black people. My feelings about Oprah notwithstanding, Dre's comments bear out that point.

Mrs Parks lawyer were trying to sue OutKast for a song that was titled Rosa Parks. I believe they settled out of court.

Mrs Parks lawyer were trying to sue OutKast for a song that was titled Rosa Parks. I believe they settled out of court. Awhile back, I guess last year by now, they supposedly wanted to meet with Anita to have her work on a song. The rumor was that Anita doesn't meet with or didn't want anything to do with rappers or something to that effect. There were alleged quotes from Anita and everything. Dre said in a radio interview that Anita never said those things and nothing ugly went on between she and Outkast. I think someone from Outkast may have connected with her but nothing panned out. But until he spoke on it the report painted Anita as the snooty songstress who didn't want anything to do with hiphop. I totally think this is right on. The new Oprah thing is she is supposed to be fueding with Whoopie Goldberg. About a month ago Parade Magazine that appears in the Sunday paper, created a poll asking America if they believed Whoopi was worthy of attending Oprah's Legends ball because she had not been invited. This was totally tacky and a transparent way of trying to throw shade at Oprah. Parade Magazine has no idea how Oprah personally feels about Whoopie. Who knows, Whoopie may have offended Oprah years ago that the general public doesn't know about. Besides, this was a private party paid for with her own money and it is her right to invite whomever she chose. I am not one that doesn't believe Oprah can do no wrong like some others appear to do, but I really don't understand these attacks against Oprah Winfrey, particularly from those in the black community. I am convinced Beyonce's career would not be where it is, if she had dark skin.

Let's not Forget.. That there were many people who chose not to go even though the invitation was extended to them..
Unfortunate that people think they need to subtract ... to add.... VelvetJ said: ThreadBare said: Back when the first "Oprah vs. rappers" story broke, I said it smelled of bored media types trying to create a story involving famous black people.
