All these half-assed reunions in funk are making me sad.....without key members, it's kinda like "karaoke". I mean NOBODY can do Steve Arrington BUT Steve Arrington!!!!! Same with all the OTHER O.G. members!!!!! | |

It is what it is right now . Steve Arrington is deep in2 tha lawd @ this moment , so not much chance that he'll reunite , although he appeared with a few on some recent snapshots .

Curt Jones is ( imo ) vocally stronger in his own material . From this POV , i would go see the show . & i'm really sorry but apart from maybe some "off" synth-sounds ( the vintage equipment ( Moogs , Prophet 5 , etc = the real shit by far ) and some lil' weak vocals , it is musically okay and absolutely no "karaoke" .
They're jamming some strong hooks in those rehearsals ... they are rehearsals after all . . . . [Edited 8/24/06 15:18pm] | |

Well, like you say, it is what it is....I realize that so many things have gone down, personally and professionaly, that the original core members could never get back together at this point. I understand Mark "Drac" Hicks is doing his own version of things in a different band. I guess this is Curt and Cedell's version... these guys are just doing thing. More power to 'em. I watched it and I was surprised to see the lead guitarist, who I think is Ted Stills. He was sort of a mentor to me a few years back when I worked in a guitar store in Jersey. He's a great guitarist and one of those old school cats who actually saw Hendrix back in the day. He also showed me, indirectly, how hard it can be to make a living as a musician. Last time I saw him, he was playing lead guitar in Buddy Hanks band. Glad to see him and Buddy doin' their thing, even if it's not THE Slave we all know and funk to. They were actually talking about doing this awhile back.
