I'm happy to hear this, it's been too long.
Cyndi Lauper should sign with them too, she hasn't released a full album in ages.

Cyndi released a covers album about 2 years ago.

I would love if Taylor Dayne signed with them.

Yeah but I think with Cyndi they won't support original material from her. They even did the Body Acoustic album recently which was just her doing re-interpreted hits of hers.

But yeah, this label sounds great for others to jump on.

Why would Donna Summer sign with any record label? It's not like she's going to get off her ass and decide to record AND put something out. (I say AND because I know she's recorded a couple albums worth of material in the last decade+, but she doesn't ever actually DO anything but keep adding tracks to compilations).

I heard mumblings about this a year or so ago. I hope like hell they just release the album she recorded for Sony! I think Donna put waaay too much value into major labels and really hoped for a huge comeback but let's face it, they weren't interested and kind of yanked her around (mostly Sony) and/or seemed really just want her back catalog (I think Univerisal. Mercury or whatever the hell they call it now kind of hinted they would release new material but only ended up releasing two new hits sets but they did release a maxi single, which wasn't on any album).

Thank God....so there is a chance this album will come out. I just read the article....apparently she is interested in making a whole new album, one that is socially relavent. Her latest offerings have been huge club numbers like "You're So Beautiful" and "I Got Your Love" but there were a few samples of tracks that sounded different, though, that might still be on her website. Can't wait for this new album but it would be cool to just release "Angel" for the hell of it!

She is on (back on, I guess) Epic but I'm not sure if they would jump at releasing an original album, would they? Possibly, if the last two offerings sold OK, and I think they did.

I'm pretty damn she did record an album while she was on Sony but they just never released it. "You're So Beautiful" and "I Got Your Love" where just two of the tracks (two that leaked and later become club hits) while there were a few others that appear as short samples on her website. It sounds like this new label is truly intersted in releasing a proper album while the others just wanted to exploit her back catalog. I don't think Brugundy could do that if they wanted to.

Well it's about time that she signs with a label and Lord willing we'll get a new CD with new music. I heard "You're So Beautiful" a year ago and it was great and if she makes a CD full of songs like this, it'll be all good for me. nod
I'm not a fan of "old Prince". I'm not a fan of "new Prince". I'm just a fan of Prince. Simple as that

Someone here posted an interview with her a few years ago where she said she didn't want to release a new album unless it was going to be HUGE.

Frankly, if that's her attitude, she doesn't deserve success. I like her a lot, but she's doing things for the wrong reasons. Hopefully that's changed now that she's signed with a smaller label.

If she is on Brudandy and talking about what direction she wants to take with it, I think she is over that. I think for years taht was the problem....She wanted to be on a major label and have a major album, something along the lines of Cher's "Believe"....It's not going to happen since dance music isn't making the waves it used to and older artists, while they debut well on the charts, never have hit singles anymore. She's over it.

Purple...I assumed that she would release an album like that, too but I guess she is getting more into politics and social issues, so maybe this won't be a club album....although I would be shocked if there aren't a few dance tracks considering how well she did with the last few and that she's never fully abandonded dance music before.

I think you are referring to her unreleased 'Angel' album, recorded between 2000-2003 when she was on Sony Records.Songs recorded for this CD include:

Angel
You're So Beautiful
Valley Of The Moon
Half The Battle
Not A Day
Rain On My Shoulders
Only Words
Work It
I Got Your Love
Adonai

you can hear snippets of three songs ("Valley Of The Moon","Adonai" and "Only Words") on her official site.
