Switch was bad,I call your name, there'll never be,u and i.
Debarge was cool too, though i thought they were a little more pop.Switch gave prince a run for his money with the falsetto's back in the day. That was a magical time.

I like DeBarge, but Switch was the better band, imo. Here are my favorite Switch songs...

***"There'll Never Be"(1978)
***"I Call Your Name"(1979)---This is nice! A lovely, flowing slow jam with gorgeous vocals and a great melody. You still hear this one alot on Old School radio stations that play classic soul.
***"Best Beat In Town"(1979)---these guys could get funky too!
***"Love Over And Over Again"(1980)---this is my favorite Switch song!!

Here are my favorite DeBarge songs...

***"All This Love"(1982)---If only one DeBarge song could be called a classic,it would have to be this song. This is their masterpiece,a kickass slow jam that never fails to impress.I LOVE this song!!
***"Time Will Reveal"(1983)---another gorgeous ballad
***"Love Me In A Special Way"(1983)
***"Single Heart"(1985)

Yes,El has done some outstanding solo material.Remember his 1986 hits "Who's Johnny","Love Always" and "Someone"? I also have his 1991 CD 'Through The Storm' which contains a Prince-written track "Tip O' My Tongue".He's a talented vocalist who never really got the props he deserved.

Brother915

The following is a cut and paste post from the Brother 9/15 library from May of this year in the Chico Debarge thread about El Debarge being an underrated artist...

I'll follow up my post with why I made the last statement I made. First of all he has an astonishing falsetto. He's a great producer, arranger and keyboardist/pianist. Debarge's album "In A Special Way" is hands down one of the best 80's R&B albums. Two songs build around the amazing arrangements of El off this album was sampled by 2pac and Notorious B.I.G.. Biggie Smalls' One More Chance sampled El's piano chord for Debarge's Stay With Me and 2Pac sampled the piano part of "A Dream" for one of his biggest hits "I Ain't Mad At Cha".

Also his 1992 album IN THE STORM was awesome. One of the best records that year PERIOD. You talking hot sensual sexy slow jams. He showed his producing and arrangements skills to full effect and he tapped Maurice White from Earth Wind And Fire to help co-produced the record. This CD is good from beginning to end and it's very diverse(it featured the hit "You Know What I Like" featuring the beautiful Chante Moore). However, a lot of people in 92' slept on this record and missed it. It's out of print now, but please look for it at a used CD store near you.

El still does Work Mainly with Rappers such as DJ Quik.some trip out stuff.of course El has worked Quincy Jones on a few Projects as well among others.Chico has a Label&should be dropping a Album soon.James Debarge Works with DJ Quik&a ton of other Rappers on Background Vocals. His Voice is out there alot.I dig Swtich Better overall as well.Debarge I liked there Albums from 82&83.El has a Couple Decent Solo Albums out of His 4 but IMHO Wrote His Better Stuff with Debarge. His Brother Bobby was a One Man-Band&He Had a tough Voice as does El.El has alot of Expression in His work to me.the Remaing Family Members may do a Project.right now they are either doing Plays or Church Oriented type Projects.Chico was dropped/Left Motown Records back in 99 after His Album dropped.but the Debarge Name thanks to Biggie&Ashanti with the Song "One More Chance" which still gets Sampled like Crazy&there other song"This Dream" that 2Pac&Blackstreet used have kept there Music out there. peace
