chappelle's block party I finally watched this on dvd and I really like it!The music was right up my hip hop alley.I thought each artist was great.I could always use more Mos and more Roots. Mos is like a hip hop Bowie. The man can do anything and can bring his strengths effortlessly to any situation and make it his.I would like Cheppell or someone to do an expanded version of this and have it include more artists and maybe a full weekend. I would like some more rock music infused in the mix,as well. This was very enjoyable to me. "I'm a pig..so,magic elixir I swill"

I really enjoyed this, too.
It's a shame so many people wrote this off because they thought it was literally a movie. Yeah, the typical American fodder would expect a full length movie of Lil Jon jokes and the stomach-turningly overplayed Rick James references. This was, in my opinion, a bit socially conscious in creating a sense of community with good live music. Vaguely reminiscent of a 'concert film', it's a treat for those of us who enjoy watching Dave Chappelle be his real self and exhibit his own personal humor and observations. This is not a movie for the short-attention-spanned, thoughtless masses who were part of the reason Dave called it quits and "ended his relationship with white people" as was cleverly described in "Dave Chappelle's Open Letter to White People" (if this was in fact legitimate). I would love more films like this, especially from Chappelle. Those of you who enjoy good live music like the poster above, or simply love to see the real-life side of your favorite minds or entertainers, check this out. Really, didn't we learn from the early-90's onslaught of full length feature films based on Saturday Night Live skits? Maybe I shouldn't mention that there is a rumored "Homey the Clown" movie being produced...

Watching this in the theatre was truly an experience. I loved it! My friend and I were trippin' off of Dead Prez. We had never heard their stuff before
