Bootsy and Outkast

I bought the Bootsy CD called Ultra Wave and first of all that shit is bumpin, though according to allmusic.com it's not one of his better cds. I couldn't help but notice how much Bootsy sounded like Outkast to me, though I know it's the other way around. Anyone else notice this before? Is he a big influence on them? I know he influenced Snoop too. If Idlewild doesn't turn out to be so hot you guys should get Ultra Wave instead! biggrin

just listen to the last couple tracks on Stankonia, the P-funk influence is apparent. i don't know how much of a direct influence Bootsy is/was on them, but the vocal stylings of Dre and some of his lyrics seem to be laced with a little Bootsyism. hmmm

Cool, you know this album too. I love the tracks Mug Push, Is that my song (sounds very Outkast-ish) and Fat cat but the whole cd is slamming. Scenery huh I may have to seek this out. Any other Bootsy cds you can recommend? Which tracks do you like from Ultra Wave??

Isn't Scenery on his 1994 compilation, Back In The Day: The Best Of Bootsy CD?

Yeah, Andre obviously is influenced by not only Bootsy but Parliament as well. Which is logical since Bootsy wrote the music to many of P-Funk's biggest hits. Just like Dr. Dre's "The Chronic" is full of Parliament's "Mothership Connection", same as Andre biting off of Bootsy, P-Funk, Prince, etc.

I understand what u guys are saying but some how I feel offended by the comment that "BOOTSY sounds like Outkast". That's a hell of a twisted comment.
