why should i listen to a non-musician on the internet who obviously has some bias towards his friends? i shouldn't and i don't.

i've been playing for 20 years... have done the exams, toured different countries as a soloist, attended the Sydney conservatorium for several years and teach. i ALWAYS get complimented on my tone, be it classical or jazz and i am best at jazz. when you're talking a lack of warmth, you may be really hearing some not so great production.... these are home recordings...no great hardware to bring out my real tone. also, you do realise that myspace and the like has notoriously bad sound quality, don't you?

i have never had anyone ever criticise my tone; this is a first and quite surprising. my tone is what i get praise for most... some great musicians (ever heard of Don Burrows?) have told me i have one of the best tones they've heard. i will admit these recordings do not do me justice. they're all i have right now as i cannot afford studio time.

but, whatever.

First of all, you're being too presumptuous. I play the guitar; I'm very good, but there are hundreds of people who I'm sure can play it as well as me and better. And you're also completely guilty of believing that musicians are the only people whose feedback is worth taking on board. Everyone has ears.

I guess you said it yourself in one of your earlier posts that you may come across as arrogant. Well I can only help but feel that you don't respond to criticism too well (too many musicians are guilty of this); in fact, you're extremely touchy. Those two friends of mine happen to be superb musicians. I'm into favouritism on any level. So you're being presumptuous once more.

If you're going to put something in the public domain, be it a recording or performing live, you have to be prepared that not everyone will be convinced by your talents. Harsh, but true.

Your critique of mrdespues did lack tact. It's possible to give feedback or offer a viewpoint without being insulting.

I don't have any recordings. I'm not the one who was shooting my mouth off anyway earlier on in this topic. I've never claimed to be anything more than a good guitarist; nothing exceptional, just OK with a good ear.

If this is how you respond to me passing a comment on your tone, God help you if someone really criticises you!

I can't see how I've come across as arrogant. You are mistaking arrogance for being opinionated. I've voiced my opinion. Simple as that.

Flava Flav? Don't make me laugh.

For what it's worth, mrdespues, your tone sounds wonderful to me.

Really?

That specific number reminds me of someone that used that as fluff to pad his resume.
His reasoning was that if he could get one note out of an instrument, he'd claim he could play it.

I'm suspicious of someone if they claim to play 3 instruments. I heard a musician from India say once that it takes three lifetimes to master playing one. That sounds about right to me.

Flavor's mother is a classically trained pianist and taught him and his brother Steve to play. Willie ( flav) is a trained pianist

oh go away. a few people have orgnoted me saying how arrogant you sound.

i can handle criticism just fine, when it's constructive.

and i wasn't shooting my mouth off, just having an opinion... which is a little different than being opinionated, like you.
