Artists which have raped/ commited sexual assualt; do you still listen to them?

Axl rose
bob marley
rick james
james brown
mystikal

Bob raped his wife. She refused him sex because of his cheating, worrying he might have a disease; he then forced his way into her house and raped her!

Axl tied his wife up by the ankles to arms; tied her mouth up, shoved her face down and raped her anally, in her words' hard, really hard'. Axl then took his dick from her arse and forced her to suck it!

There's a few others as well including jackie wilson.

I'm talking about FACT by credible sources NOT speculation!

What y'll think?

you seriously need to learn to separate the people from the music, man. all i've seen you do is post both on here and the m & m forum, steadily talking about this kinna shit.

drop that shit and leave it be, it ain't really your place to worry about all the wrong muthafuckas do. all it'll do is make you bitter when it comes to listening to or dealing with music--oh wait, seems like that shit's already happening with you, nevermind. neutral

Separate the art from the person and you'll find you have no problem tapping your foot along to R Kelly singing about being the "Pied piper of R 'n' B" and Gary Glitter doing "You wanna touch me there (Yeah)".

Put the two together, however, and you'll pretty much stop listening to music altogether. lol

I still listen to the music. Everyone does bad things and as long as that person has learned then i can't see the problem. As for Gary Glitter, i would listen to his music but i definitely wouldn't buy it or support him as a artist.

Yes. We should all end up in a Vietnamese prison for listening to Gary Glitter. neutral

i have a few comments to make on this subject matter. first of all i didn't realise any of this. it's the first i've heard of it. if it's true it's shocking and sick but i must say i love rick james and i know he had some serious issues. i don't approve of what his lifestyle was but i love his music.

second, why is it that people listen to r. kelly after knowing what he's all about but when it comes down to gary glitter people freak out. child porn is ok for some but not for others?? i think it's disgusting no matter what but i just want to understand why people still love r. kelly?

If I dont know what they have done more than likely yes, but I dont see myself supporting someone who is capable of being such an ugly person outside of the music if they get found out. I would feel weird about it.

Dude, why waste a thread on this bullshit? You come off as one of those "shoot the message if you disaprove of the messenger" types. A song is a song and regardless of who wrote/sang/performed it, its purpose is to enlighten or change you in some way. Its this same kind os narrow-mindedness that kills progression in society. If a child molester invents the cure for AIDS, should it not be used? People are three dimensional. They are more than one thing. Even sick individuals can be brilliant at something else. You need to grow up, son. This world is full of billions of people. Who are YOU to be judging them? You're just a number. Anyone is capable of criminal acts under a set of circumstances.
Good music is good music. It doesn't matter who makes it.

"We spoke about my husband coming home after I hadn't seen him for a long time, cause you have to talk about the realities, and they wanted to know about Bob and the other women and how I took it, so there was a point where we were not having a good relationship because of it, so if I feel to say he hold me down and take it and I felt it was rape. I had a right to say it... but it wasn't the way they made it look, cause he would be in jail if he had really raped me like a stranger. He wasn't a rapist," she said.

He held her down and 'took it'; SHE SAID IT WAS RAPE!

Can you not understand!

Erm let's see;

Domestic violence on MANY occasions. Police were called; wife refused to press charges. Later charged with assault on a women on a different occasion.

MANY sexual assault lawsuits JAMES WANTED TO SETTLE OUT OF COURT!

Threatened his wife with a gun(neigbours even heard).

yes i am exactly the same way. I used to love MJ as child up to young teens. After finding out the child in the first case identified marks on his penis EXACTLY as they were i knew he was guilty(many detectives from the time have revealed this; it's fact). I wish he weren't though becuase his music is awesome!

Yes, paedophilia is a heinous crime, a cousin of murder, BUT if you threw out all your music because their creators had had sex with underage girls/boys, well, you'd have to bin all Rolling Stones albums with Bill Wyman on them (and they're the great ones), every album Elvis made while Priscilla was underage, everything you've ever owned by Jerry Lee Lewis, everything by Led Zep, The Beach Boys, (possibly) Michael Jackson ... And then there's the ones you don't know about.

Despite there being video evidence of R Kelly having sex with an underage girl, it hasn't stopped people from buying and enjoying his music and packing out his concerts. I know that this will seem very wrong to anyone who isn't a fan - and in many ways it is - but I do think that people separate the music from the man, hence his ongoing popularity.

What's worse - not knowing or knowing? Take the case of Mel Gibson, an obvious anti-Semite, irrespective of whatever bullshit mea culpas he spouts on talkshows. If you are a fan would you rather have known or not known his ugly views?
