She says she makes hot-water cornbread and fried catfish seasoned with Lawry's as a dish she can cook. Also, Janet mentions that younger men have less of a problem with who she is than older men. Finall, Janet says she had to get used to Jermaine picking up the bill because she was used to taking care of everything--now, after a conversation, they take turns paying. Now, these same people seem to be disgusted with her exhibitionist behavior. I also noticed something else that radio has NEVER done in all of the years that Janet has been a star. They never mentioned the fact that she is not a good singer. They knew, they just respected her enough not to say it on air. Since the Damita Jo album, the DJ's have just come out and said that she can't sing. I really do think that the attention has always been on how attractive she is and not on her music. People are finally noticing that her talent does not match her looks. However, her looks garner her record sales and that is the very reason that she focuses on her "looks". | |

Before you folks all condemn Janet to death for lowering herself to answer sex question to interviewers at Vibe Magazine, remember that 15 years ago, they didn't have magazines like Maxim, FHM or Stuff in newsstands. All of this sexual overkill got started with those magazines. (Actually, it got started with Playboy, Penthouse and Hustler, but you couldn't just go up to the bookstore or supermarket and pull those magazines off the shelf.) I remember hearing a radio interview ith Jessica Biel after she left the TV show "7th Heaven" to do more adult work. She said that she did an interview with Maxim, and while the interview started out like the average celebrity interview ("What movies are you doing? What roles would you like to do? Which actor would you like to work with?" Etc.) it eventually devolved into asking her about when she lost her virginity, her favorite sexual position in bed, and other sex crap. Plus, these magazines asked her to make a bunch of sexy photos for the magazine. If there's anything wrong with displaying sexuality in this country, it's the crass way that it is commercialized and commotitized like it's another product to sell. It's a shame that the whole entertainment industry has lowered itself down to this level, but in trying to be more titillating and more provocative, so many media outlets copy what works to the point that there are no differences between them. That's why Maxim, FHM, Stuff, Details, and all of the other men's magazines have the same cheesecke covers with the same airbrushed women with them with their "come do me looks," why People, US, Life and Style all have the same Brangelina, Nick and Jessica, and pregnant Britney Spears covers with the same headlines, and CNN and MSNBC trying to copy Fox News when they should be either going the other direction or focusing on their strengths. In the end, what was supposed to be shocking and different ends up just becoming a bunch of white noise.  | |

I'm just so bored with all the skin chicks are showing these days. Pussycat Dolls and all. After awhile you just get immune to half naked chicks all over the place and with all the slutness going around with many of these artists these days, it no longer inspires anything other than a hard on in teenage boys and deprived men.
Perhaps I'm just showing my age and I come from a time when what you were wearing was more important than what you weren't wearing. Don't get me wrong, I don't mind women showing a bit of skin, but it's the representation behind it. The whole thing makes me yawn. Even Janet looks bored to tears with it.
