You know I'm there.
Playing the Angel was a raging success from a creative standpoint, in my eyes. See, every band reaches that point in their 40's where they're set for life and their music is always peaceful and full of string-driven love ballads and nice spiritually bright songs. This was Exciter. ("When the Body Speaks", "Shine", "I Am You", etc.) Don't get me wrong, I loved Exciter to death, and those were my favorite songs on the record, but I was sure Playing the Angel would follow the similar lines. 40 year old musicians turning into marshmallows and writing more songs about their wives. Little did I know, Martin Gore's divorced him last year. Playing the Angel is the darkest thing they've done in over a decade, and harkens back to their roots, without being a comeback album/ publicity stint at all (*coughcough Duran Duran's 'Astronaut' coughcough*) And it couldn't have come at a better time in my life. Having battled crippling anxiety disorder for a year, falling asleep behind the wheel and totaling my car into a giant tree, my girlfriend leaving me two days later, and my family ostracizing me for my transvestitism issues. All in a year's time. Playing the Angel is so on the level I find myself, and I can't tip my hat to Martin Gore enough for making a peace of art for people who are either experiencing pain & suffering, or even just acknowledging it. This is going to be a nice DVD, and I reccommend to anyone. Thanks for posting this topic.

I love "Playing the Angel"! I caught the tour twice... Macro and Sinner in Me are my songs!
I also bought the live CD at the 2nd show I attended. It took so long to arrive I thought they took my $35. and ran! It just came 2 weeks ago (May 14 show), and it's pretty good. My sister's the DP nut, so I'll get it for her, then borrow it. Lynn "Love Hurts. Your lies, they cut me. Now your words don't mean a thing. I don't give a damn if you ever loved me..." -Cher, "Woman's World"

Prince should try offering a "pay in advance" live CD... I thought that was cool idea!

I haven't seen them live in nearly a decade, so this will be a nice way to catch up with Depeche Mode.

The DVD tracklisting is as follows:
A Pain that I'm Used to. John the Revelator. A Question of Time. Policy of Truth. Precious. Walking in My Shoes. Suffer Well. Macro. Home. I Want it All. The Sinner in Me. I Feel You. Behind the Wheel. World in My Eyes. Personal Jesus. Enjoy the Silence. Shake the Disease. (FUCKING A !) Just Can't Get Enough. (!?) Everything Counts. Never Let Me Down Again. Goodnight Lovers. ADDITIONAL (not part of the specific show's sequence) A Question of Lust. Damaged People. The Audio CD tracklisting is: A Pain that I'm Used To. John the Revelator. Precious. Suffer Well. Macro. I Want it All. The Sinner in Me. Damaged People. Hmmm. It seems they attempted to make a Playing the Angel LIVE CD out of these tracks. However, I for one would have prefered a FULL Playing the Angel tracklist live album, like they did with "Songs of Faith and Devotion LIVE". Can you imagine Lillian and The Darkest Star live ?!

They sounded like Gods in "Songs of faith and devotion live".
I bought Playing the angel as soon as it was released and have hardly listened 2 it.I really must get in2 listening 2 it.I MUST!!!... Also I'd just like 2 give "When the body speaks" another mention and I must metion "Freelove",possibly the greatest thing Mr Gore has written....absolutely beautiful u know u want 2...so do it

(Lynn again) Me and the missus went 2 c Wet Wet Wet at the end of 2004 in Newcastle and we ordered a cd of the show b4 the show started. We picked it up after the show and a lengthy wait at the stall but I thought it was an excellent idea. Maybe more artists should do this during tours..... u know u want 2...so do it
