The Lady in my Life"- MJ I think this is one of Michael's best songs, he really goes for it at the end of the end and shows he does have that Motown soul. I DJ'd a prom in the 80's and I used this as the theme song. It worked really well, and I think it's still a great song over 20 yrs later. ______________________________________________

Almost, yeah. It's beena while since I listened to all the tracks on the special edition of Thriller, but didn't Quincy Jones say MJ initially had some reservation about singing the song?

Well, it was allegdly dedicated to Diana Ross, so he probably really meant what he was singing, afterall Diana has always been "Mother/friend/sister and lover".

I like Stanley's LOML also , but the improvised endpart of MJ's version is the best .

The whole allegations and trial thing has ruined certain MJ songs for me. I can't listen to TLIML, HN, or PYT, without laughing my ass off.

I agree. This song STILL gives me goosebumps everytime that I hear it. I don't think anyone could sing this song as MJ did it. I would love to see him perform this in concert. Michael is such a shy person that I don't think that he likes to show THIS side of him. However, if he did he would show a side of him that every fan KNOWS that he has.

This song is STILL a favorite among fans, radio DJ's and even non-fans. Several years ago, there was a radio battle between Michael and Prince. The DJ's would play a song and callers would call in and vote. The "battle" was really going neck and neck UNTIL they played "Lady In My Life". The callers overwhelming voted for LIML. At the end of the battle, the DJ's say that the battle was "too close" to call. Yeah right! What a cop-out.

I wonder why? I loved songs such as "Butterflies", "Break of Dawn", "Heaven Can Wait","Lady In My Life" BEFORE the false allegations and the fact that he stood strong and fought that crap and WON, makes me love to hear him sing the songs even more. I read a post where a person said that they couldn't stop thinking of CHILDREN when they hear these songs. My response is WTF? How can any normal person think of children when they hear those songs? Some people are really, really sick if that is what comes to their minds when they hear MJ sing those songs. That would be the LAST thing that I would think of. Of course, if a person is sick enough to ALREADY have those thoughts, then it wouldn't matter who was singing or what they were singing.

The great thing about this song is that it is one of the few songs from Thriller that didn't get overplayed so I can still listen to it and enjoy it. Great bass on that track too!

This song and "Baby Be Mine" are the only 'Thriller' songs that didn't get over-played.

that's correct Mad, isn't it. To think there were five singles released from Thriller in just one year (1983) plus Say Say Say with Paul McCartney and they all made the US top 10. Then of course, there was The Girl Is Mine in late '82 and Thriller in early '84. A total of eight top 10 hits in less than eighteen months. Astounding. It's no wonder he's still hated by so many. That amount of saturation can't be good for anybody.
