I just bought Larks' Tongues in Aspic and Red this past weekend. I've had In the Court..., the Compact King Crimson comp and Discipline for years, and had always meant to listen further.

I'm loving Larks' Tongue so far...haven't really had a chance to digest Red yet, but I know its reputation is pretty strong so I expect to like that one as well.

I'd go if they ever played a double-bill. Heck, I'd go to see King Diamond just to see if he can really sing like that live.

I liked their later incarnation with Adrian Belew, very funky.

That link said I needed to be 18 (which I am but not registered). What happens?

With this band specifically, or prog in general?

I'm a total closet prog-rocker...you should see my stash of Yes albums.

boxed

perhaps i've said too much...

it's sorta understandable, King Crimson makes me think of King Diamond which make me think of the NWOBHM band Diamond Head. But King Diamond is too evil, very scary, even though when people cover Mercyful Fate tracks those songs sound really good.

21st Century Schizoid Man and In the Court of the Crimson King are in my top songs list.

Don't know too much about them. But I really like Frame by Frame... some great crazy guitar playing on that!

As an aside, I have to mention that Robert Fripp's solo on Brian Eno's St. Elmo's Fire is one of my favourite things in the world.

i'm sure a king diamond show would be one of those "never a dull moment" occasions.

With this band. I've got most of it from a friend of mine and sometimes I listen and think "these guys are amazing on some stuff, almost ahead of their time" and other times I'm like "what was I thinking?"

I like prog rock in general but these guys don't fit the bill to me. ELP, YES, RUSH are all bands I'd put into Prog Rock box so maybe I need to go back and listen some more.

Yeah, Discipline is the one for me...Matte Kudasai is my favorite King Crimson tune (well, that and Three of a Perfect Pair)...I think I'm more of a Adrian Belew/ Tony Levin fan than a Robert Fripp fan, but I do love some of Fripp's stuff.....

The 1st tune I heard from Discipline was Elephant Talk and thought it was Talking Heads because of the vocal.

Remember Adrian Belew's 1st album...

...Lone Rhino?

I've got it at home somewhere on cassette.
