Monica f/t MJ "All eyes on me" AKA 2002's PYT Get BACK Brandy!
Monica's new jam "ALL EYEZ ON ME". Yall this song is sooo TIGHT!!! IT IS SO OFF DA HEEZY!!! Yall can listen to the whole song here http://www.monica.com. It automatically plays as soon as u get there. I just love the fact that it was sampled by MJ's song 'PYT' and its the most BANGIN track eva done by Darkchild!. Not to mention, brotha MJ appeared in that track

Monica can really sing. I've been waiting for her to come out with her next album for quite some time now. Would like to see what she got to offer.

I'm so excited about her work wit Dallas Austin. Both csn make a REAL GOOD music along side TLC!

I think Monica is very talented but I think this song is another example of how pathetic music is today. There is no originality, everyone recycles grooves from the past and this song may as well be a remake of "PYT". There is nothing wrong with doing a cover, but for the first single off of her album...it leaves me dissapointed. Monica does not need to rework a familar song to get attention. Not to mention, her voice sounds extremely digitized, almost similar to Cher's voice on many of her recent songs. And the video is also unoriginal...Monica is a true star on the rise and I hope she one day creates a vibe entirely her own. Seeing the direction Monica and Brandy are taking further proves that Alliyah would have been more of a superstar than we ever could have imagined.

Damn, always got to have some Negativity. Funk, everything in life is a remake in some form. There is something new under the sun. You do make some good points about her talent, but music is music and should be enjoyable for what it's worth. Life my azz muthafucka, dis is a bitness!!
I love Gravy, I love Titties. I love Gravy Dipped Titties.

I think I understand Funk's statements. Sometimes we just yearn for some originality from music and some real artists and all we hear are these fake sounds. I'm glad that I get the most out of what I could get from being orginial, pure, and something from someone who really cares and loves art and music, from Prince. For me, I think I see artists like Monica, Brandy, (and even Nelly!) as 'artist's' music I listen to just for fun. But when Prince's music touches my ears, that's just some real, serious business right there, as compared to other 'artists' work, in my world.

If you see these artist as fun music to listen to, sure you can yearn for some originality, but do it from real artist like Maxwell, and Prince, not pop corn ass Bubble gum, the boy is mine, hot in here artist like the ones mentioned. So Stop thinking and Start knowing. Life my azz muthafucka, dis is a bitness!!

i don't like this song.
but her past singing is great.

Just to clarify, I understand that nothing is original and everyone samples...but there is a difference between using a sample creatively and basically rerecording the song with a new chorus. I admit Monica's song is catchy...but that's because it was MJ's song from the biggest selling album of all time. I guess I would expect more from Monica...especially her first single in a long time. I'm not trying to be negative...its just unfortunate that there are not many artists today breaking ground with something fresh to offer.

So Stop thinking and Start knowing. Those were just examples sweetie pie, from a long list. Maxwell is included as well, and he's bubblegum too. [This message was edited Thu Aug 1 15:18:21 PDT 2002 by Starmist7]

Hey, I did not say I listened to Nelly and Monica to quench my thirst for originality and real creative music. I didn't even like 'the boy is mine'. When I said I listen to them 'for fun' what I meant is that from time to time, I will play hot 97 on my radio and just dance and sing along to some tunes, but never in my heart will I feel the urge to buy a CD from 90% of the artist's music I hear on my radio. I'd say Maxwell is a bubble gum artist because once you cross over to sell a certain amount of albums, that's what you're classified as. Most of the time, I only listen to Prince because I have a deep admiration and appreciation for the creation of his orginal music, the music he mostly produces, and the lyrics he mostly writes. If anything, that's my own personal beef with recording artists of today. The bubble gum rap and r&b artists is part of the music I grew up listening to, that I have seen evolved, that has become a part of me that allows me to step back and analyze and recognize their efforts when they try to lay out a 'phat' beat to a song. So before you even start to think about stomping your foot down at me, let me break it down to you that this is not what I think, but what I KNOW. I would rather hear a good sample made into a new song than a just plain bad song. I just worry when all the samplied songs are used whcih will happen eventually, then what will we have, just bad music. Sure I would love for some new jams like the ones on "Thriller" and "1999", but nobody can do it, not even the original artists! ______________________________________________

One more thing- I think Quincy Jones (the producer) and Rod Temperton (the writer) of PYT should get the credit for this one anyway. Sure Michael had a great vocal on the track but the music was all Rod and Quincy.
When Puff Daddy sampled "Every Breath You Take" I heard on BHTM that Andy Summers should have got paid cause he wrote the guitar riff that wa sampled. Sting wrote the song but not the riff. Andy was robbed. ______________________________________________

PYT"Pretty Young Thing" was Composed by Quincy Jones&James Ingram.but Originally Michael Jackson Composed a Slower Version of this Song.it was a Catchy Song but not a Diamond of a Song but Compared to what's out now if Sony released it as it is it would still go Top Ten IMHO.A Song is A Song Period.when it's done Right all things fall into Place with it no matter who had what to do with it IMHO.but Sampling&Looping is tacky nowadays&gets worse with each passing year IMHO.When Puff Daddy sampled "Every Breath You Take" I heard on BHTM that Andy Summers should have got paid cause he wrote the guitar riff that wa sampled. You know, the amazing thing about 'Thriller' is that only TWO songs were not released as singles: "Baby Be Mine" and "The Lady In My Life".I've never seen an album that had 7 singles from it.
And when you think about it,even those two songs could have been released too! Another amazing thing is that, despite all the singles, there were only THREE videos from the album.Maybe Mike was trying to avoid overexposure, but he missed a great opportunity to make videos for the songs "Human Nature","Wanna Be Startin Something","PYT" and "The Girl Is Mine". Perhaps he was waiting to spend all the money on the "Thriller" video?

true Enough a "Human Nature" Video would have been Cool.back then you didn't over do things.different marketing porjections then compared to now.Frank Dileo had crazy stares when He told CBS/Sony that He wanted to release Beat it with Billie Jean at Number 1.It worked but things are so different now.nowadays with that Album all 9 Songs would have Charted easily.Scary thoughts!! Sampling was part of the birth of the r&b of today, and rap music. But I don't think it's all based on that alone. There are some new good songs that have original tunes because they're ALL not samples, and I believe that many of them will be used by others in the future. I think it's all part of the cycle of how the music industry flows, and how it continues to produce and reproduce itself, as it continues to make good and bad songs, original, and not original. Love Monica. Hate the new video and song.
This young woman has the potential 2 be the next "Diva." Heaven knows, the niche is wide open and she's got the title stamped on her forehead. Choreography videos are O.K. (4 those that can dance ); but, Monica is above that. It's time 2 take her 2 the next level. ONE LOVE

Rodney Jerkins, along with the Neptunes & P-Diddy, is the most uninspired producer around. People like shit they already heard.

With these Rodney Jerkins productions, the beats r decent (though always the same), as r the vocal and other trax, but the guy apparently cannot mix a song. Horrible! "It's better 2 B hated 4 what U R than 2 B loved 4 what U R not."
